Role Description This role involves serving as a GEAR UP Iowa Facilitator for the GEAR UP Iowa program in the Bureau of Iowa College Aid. The facilitator will provide professional level program work by planning and leading GEAR UP Iowa grant project activities. - Ensure outcome focused, effective and compliant implementation of GEAR UP Iowa (GUI) in assigned school districts. - Assist assigned districts in planning and implementing GUI plans according to programmatic and fiscal policies and procedures. - Convening monthly school planning meetings for data-driven decisions for college access strategies and activities. - Support plan implementation, track progress, and provide consultation and compliance support to district and school staff. - Provide consistent support, training, and organization for school planning teams. - Consult with district personnel to identify and help fill gaps in school engagement and compliance. - Develop and foster partnerships with colleges, community organizations, businesses, faith communities, civic leaders, and other entities to support community-wide engagement around college attainment. - Serve as an advocate for the GUI associated strategies and practices. - Deliver presentations on specific topics to schools, parents, and students; collaborate with community partners to provide additional information. - Identify gaps in professional development for GUI school staff, counselors, teachers, and administrators. - Deliver or assist in delivering professional development through conference presentations, at districts, or via technology. - Develop and maintain knowledge of current research and best practices in academic success strategies, advising, engagement, career planning, and community partnership engagement. - Identify best practices to support the GUI Framework components and develop strategies for program-wide implementation. - Serve as subject matter expert for the project and liaison for other GUI Facilitators for assigned component(s). - Independently research and respond to questions from students and families. - Utilize designated systems for tracking student services, assessments, and communication with students and parents. - Train and assist school personnel in utilizing designated systems. - Utilize designated relationship and service tracking systems to document project progress and appropriate use of GUI funds. - Assist the GUI Director and Coordinator with collection of data for program evaluation and monitoring. - Contribute to and consult on GUI publications, website, and media efforts. - Represent GUI in bureau and department efforts. Qualifications - Hands on experience of leading complex business and technical transformational change across multiple organisations and business sectors. - Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills – you will need to be comfortable teaching classes of up to 20 both in person and virtually. - The ability to draw on examples from your own career to illustrate change management in practice and enrich participant experience. - A track record of successfully engaging with employees undergoing change, practitioners leading change and senior leaders who sponsor change. - Familiarity with a range of change and project management methodologies and approaches, for example PMBOK, Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, etc. - Confident user of MS 365, online portals, virtual meeting platforms, presentation, and polling technology. - Bilingual/fluent in Dutch and English. - Educated to degree level or possessing the equivalent years of experience. - A flexible approach to working days is sometimes required, especially when delivering virtual classes. Preferred - An understanding of adult learning theories and techniques. - Prosci Practitioner Certification together with practical experience of applying the methodology and tools. - Professional capability in other European languages would be highly beneficial, especially French or German. - Previous experience of teaching adults in a business environment.
