Packaging Engineer II
ADEPT GROUP
• Lead and execute packaging engineering projects across CPG Food and Beverage categories such as snacks, rigid/flexible foods, refrigerated/frozen foods, beverages, confection, and ready‑to‑eat products. • Own the development, qualification, and commercialization of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging components. • Lead specification creation, maintenance, and harmonization activities in client systems (PLM, ERP, or digital spec platforms). • Conduct advanced packaging testing including transit simulations, shelf-life studies, barrier performance evaluations, machinability reviews, and line trial validation. • Collaborate with R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Quality to drive packaging initiatives from concept to launch. • Identify and resolve packaging manufacturing issues, partnering with suppliers and co‑packers as needed. • Support or lead sustainability initiatives, including packaging optimization, recyclability improvements, lightweighting, and material consolidation. • Drive continuous improvement across packaging processes, documentation, and data governance.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 2–5 years of packaging engineering experience in CPG food, beverage, or closely related manufacturing environments.
- Proven hands‑on experience with: Flexible packaging (films, laminations, pouches)
- Rigid plastics (PET, HDPE, PP)
- Paperboard and corrugate
- Labels, closures, overwraps
- Solid understanding of packaging manufacturing processes (form-fill-seal, thermoforming, injection molding, blow molding, carton converting).
- Demonstrated ability to manage packaging changes, trial execution, testing protocols, and vendor interactions.
- Experience using specification systems such as PLM, ERP, or digital packaging platforms.
- Strong analytical, communication, and project coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams.
- Project management experience.
- Working knowledge of industry standards & regulations: ASTM, ISTA, ISO, EPR/PPWR.
- TOPS/Cape software experience.
