This role will partner closely with sales leadership to design high-value network solutions for business, enterprise, and wholesale customers while helping identify strategic opportunities for fiber network expansion. The Senior Sales Engineer will provide advanced technical consultation during the sales process, oversee complex solution design, and mentor the Sales & Implementation Engineer to ensure consistent execution and delivery. This role bridges sales strategy, network design, and market expansion planning to support Surf Internet’s continued growth in commercial and enterprise markets. Reports To Vice President of Sales Department Sales Job Status Exempt Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Sales Support Serve as the senior technical advisor for the commercial sales team. Partner with sales executives during the sales cycle to design and present technical solutions to enterprise and SMB customers. Translate customer business needs into scalable network solutions including: Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) Dark Fiber Transport Layer 2 / Layer 3 services Fiber and wireless access solutions Lead technical discovery calls and customer presentations. Provide technical expertise during RFP/RFQ responses. Solution Design Architect customized connectivity solutions aligned with customer requirements and Surf Internet network capabilities. Work closely with internal engineering teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically feasible and cost-effective. Evaluate network routes, fiber availability, and construction requirements to support commercial opportunities. Develop high-level designs, cost models, and implementation strategies for complex projects. Commercial Market Development Partner with sales leadership to identify high-potential commercial areas for fiber expansion. Analyze commercial density, fiber routes, enterprise demand, and infrastructure opportunities. Utilize GIS platforms and network planning tools to identify strategic build opportunities. Assist leadership in prioritizing new commercial market expansions. Implementation Oversight Provide technical guidance during implementation of complex enterprise projects. Coordinate with project management, engineering, and field teams to ensure successful deployments. Assist in troubleshooting escalated technical challenges during deployment. Team Leadership & Mentorship Provide mentorship and technical leadership to the Sales & Implementation Engineer. Establish best practices for solution design, documentation, and technical sales support. Assist in training sales teams on Surf Internet network capabilities and product offerings. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate documentation for solution designs, project plans, and customer requirements. Support internal forecasting by providing technical feasibility input on large opportunities. Generate reports and insights related to commercial expansion opportunities. QualificationsEducation Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Networking, or related field preferred. Experience 7+ years of experience in sales engineering, network engineering, or technical pre-sales within the ISP or telecommunications industry. Strong experience with: Fiber optic networks Internet transport technologies Enterprise connectivity solutions Experience supporting enterprise and wholesale customers. Experience working with cross-functional teams including engineering, construction, and project management. Preferred Skills Experience with dark fiber or transport network design Knowledge of OSP design and fiber construction practices Familiarity with GIS tools such as ArcGIS or Vetro Experience evaluating commercial markets for network expansion Strong presentation and customer-facing communication skills Ability to translate technical concepts into business value for customers Core Competencies Strategic technical thinking Customer-focused solution design Leadership and mentorship Collaboration across engineering and sales teams Problem solving and analytical skills
