Role Description The Technical Inside Sales Engineer serves as a primary technical authority and take-off specialist for Kinetics’ national sales organization, with deep expertise in vibration isolation and seismic solutions. This role owns detailed take-offs, estimating accuracy, and proposal development for complex projects, partnering closely with outside sales, manufacturer reps, engineers, and contractors. This position is critical to ensuring speed, accuracy, and technical integrity from schematic design through construction documents—translating drawings and specifications into compliant, competitive Kinetics solutions. The role is ideal for a senior-level professional with extensive experience performing take-offs and estimates specific to vibration isolation and seismic applications. - Technical Sales Support & Solution Development: - Serve as a senior technical resource to national sales, A/E firms, contractors, and channel partners. - Review architectural, structural, and mechanical documents to determine appropriate vibration isolation and seismic solutions, including atypical or high-risk conditions. - Provide expert guidance on product application, system selection, and constructability, with a strong focus on real-world installation considerations. - Respond to RFIs and technical questions related to design intent, performance criteria, and installation requirements. - Take-Offs, Estimating & Proposal Ownership (Primary Focus): - Perform detailed quantity take-offs from construction documents for vibration isolation and seismic systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness. - Own estimating inputs including scope definition, assumptions, exclusions, pricing inputs, and technical clarifications. - Prepare comprehensive technical and commercial proposals, coordinating internal inputs required to release accurate, on-time quotes. - Support custom and project-specific solutions where standard applications do not fully address project conditions. - Maintain disciplined estimating standards including BOM accuracy, lead times, freight, tax assumptions, and documentation control. - Submittals, Shop Drawing & Design Coordination: - Lead the technical review of submittals and shop drawings, including redlines and constructability feedback. - Coordinate with Engineering and internal stakeholders to resolve design conflicts, technical questions, and field constraints. - Ensure technical deliverables align with contract documents, specifications, and approved take-offs. - Project & Pipeline Support (Quote Through Delivery): - Manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritizing based on impact, complexity, and timeline sensitivity. - Support smooth handoff to Customer Service and Operations, remaining engaged to resolve technical or documentation issues. - Provide continuity and technical support through award and early execution phases as needed. - CRM, Forecasting & Sales Operations Discipline: - Maintain CRM and pipeline tools with strong attention to opportunity integrity, scope clarity, and timing. - Track project and specification activity tied to take-offs and estimating workload. - Recommend workflow improvements that increase take-off efficiency, estimating accuracy, and responsiveness. - Training, Enablement & Market Support: - Support training of sales reps and partners on how to scope, interpret drawings, and position Kinetics solutions. - Assist with seminars, presentations, and occasional trade shows focused on vibration isolation and seismic applications. - Maintain working knowledge of Kinetics’ technical tools, selection software, and submittal resources. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree preferred (engineering, construction management, or technical discipline a plus). - 10–15+ years of experience performing technical take-offs, estimating, and inside sales support, with specific depth in vibration isolation and seismic applications. - Extensive experience interpreting construction documents, specifications, and schedules for complex projects. Requirements - Expert-level take-off and estimating capability, particularly for vibration isolation and seismic systems. - Strong technical aptitude with the ability to translate drawings and requirements into accurate, buildable solutions. - High attention to detail, organization, and deadline management across multiple complex projects. - Strong written and verbal communication skills; confident interacting with A/E firms, contractors, and internal teams. - CRM proficiency and comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven sales support environment. - Low to moderate travel for training, rep support, or trade events as needed (typically <10–20%).
