Job Description
Engineering Manager, Core Product Engine
Jerry.ai
Role Description The technical challenge: - More than 80% of Americans own a car and see it as a fundamental necessity, yet the experience of owning one is stuck in the 90s. - Every part of the user journey (shopping for a car, insurance, repairs, etc.) is complicated, fragmented, expensive, and time-consuming. - At Jerry.ai, we are building the first mobile app to manage it all. - Our insurance marketplace is our core product today, and our ability to automate the end-to-end shopping experience is our core differentiator. - The Marketplace Automation Team owns the most critical part of that, the "last mile", where we orchestrate complex, multi-step transactions with external systems to finalize insurance policy purchases. - Because the industry lacks modern APIs, we build custom orchestration layers that navigate internal and external interfaces with precision. - Your challenge will be to evolve our current automation systems to a robust, fault-tolerant framework that can handle external interface changes gracefully and scale across dozens of new categories with minimal manual intervention. Why you will (or won’t) like working here: - Ownership: You’ll report directly to our co-founder/CTO, who is actively involved in product implementation. There is no red tape, no slow-moving processes, and no layers of approvals needed. If you have an idea, you can pitch it, build it, and see it live in days. - Stellar team: We have a very high bar for talent, as a result, we have a small but mighty team that can move fast and accomplish a lot. You will work with likeminded peers who are equally passionate and who care intensely about what they do. - Hands-on: Many of our TLMs are ex-founders, they like getting their hands dirty and solving difficult problems. You will spend 80% of your time doing hands-on technical work (e.g. transitioning our legacy automation systems into a more decoupled, scalable architecture). - Volume of customer data: We are a consumer-facing business (5M+ customers) and have access to a massive amount of customer data across behaviours like driving/telematics, shopping, payment, etc. which helps guide our product, technical and business decisions. What you’ll own: - Our first automation system was built for speed, not scale. Today, it’s a web of tightly coupled business logic and database access that makes changes risky and failures hard to debug. - Phase 1: You’ll be deep in the code, learning both the technical and business sides of our core product (insurance is very complex and every insurance provider uses different logic and behaves differently). Then you will lead incremental refactoring of our existing automation systems: designing and implementing new standards and pairing with engineers to ensure the new system is predictable and testable. - Phase 2: As the architecture stabilizes, you’ll shift towards using an AI-first approach to building the next generation of internal tools that will allow us to grow from 5M to 50M users. Qualifications - A Player Coach: You likely founded a company or were a lead architect at an early stage startup. You are a builder at heart and like being in the trenches alongside your team. - A Detective: You are obsessed with success rates. You love hunting for edge cases in complex business logic and won't stop until you understand exactly why a script failed. - A Systems Thinker: You have a high bar for system design, especially for offline, asynchronous jobs. You understand that async work requires much stricter standards for decoupling, state management, and failure retry logic than synchronous online systems. Requirements - Experience with TypeScript (Nest.js, React), GraphQL, AWS (ECS/EKS, Lambda). Benefits - Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision coverage. - Paid time off and paid parental leave. - 401(K) plan with employer matching. - Wellness benefits, among others. - Equity opportunities may also be part of your total rewards package. Role Description As a CAD/Flow Methodology Development leader at Tylsemi, you will define, build, and scale the EDA infrastructure and design signoff methodologies that enable teams to deliver silicon efficiently and repeatably. This role will be good for 10+ years of experience and is ideal for engineers who combine deep tool/flow expertise with strong cross-functional leadership—turning ambiguous productivity and quality goals into robust, automated, measurable flows used across multiple programs and sites. - Own end-to-end methodology for key implementation and signoff flows (front-end through back-end), with clear quality gates, metrics, and release processes. - Develop and maintain automated flows for synthesis, STA, P&R, physical verification (DRC/LVS), extraction, EM/IR, timing/power closure, and signoff reporting (scope aligned to your background). - Build reusable infrastructure: Makefiles/Python/Tcl-based automation, job orchestration, regression frameworks, dashboards, and standardized runsets. - Drive tool enablement and configuration across EDA vendors (e.g., Synopsys/Cadence/Siemens), including version qualification, best-known methods, and performance tuning. - Partner with design, PD, verification, DFT, packaging, and product engineering to define signoff criteria, checklists, and tapeout readiness reviews. - Create scalable collateral: flow documentation, onboarding guides, templates, reference designs, and training for new teams and new nodes. - Debug and root-cause flow issues (tool bugs, runset problems, environment drift, corner setup, library/constraint issues) and drive fixes to closure. - Establish and track KPIs (runtime, QoR, convergence rate, violation trends, tapeout escapes) and continuously improve cycle time and first-pass success. - Support multi-site execution with reproducible environments, access control, compute strategy, and robust release management. Qualifications - 10+ years of experience in CAD, design methodology, or physical design/STA with significant flow ownership (scope aligned to experience level). - Strong understanding of digital implementation and signoff concepts: constraints (SDC), timing closure, CDC/RDC considerations, power intent (UPF/CPF), physical verification, extraction, and signoff correlation. - Proven ability to build production-grade automation and infrastructure (Python, Tcl, shell, Make/CMake, Git-based workflows; CI/regressions a plus). - Experience qualifying and supporting EDA tools and flows across multiple projects, including versioning, runset management, and reproducibility. - Ability to translate engineering pain points into scalable methodology, with clear documentation and measurable outcomes. - Strong debugging skills across tool logs, QoR deltas, environment issues, and cross-team integration problems. - Clear communication and high ownership in cross-site, cross-functional environments. Requirements - EDA CAD/flow development. - Design methodology and signoff flows. - Automation/scripting (Python/Tcl/shell). - Tool enablement and regression infrastructure. - Cross-functional technical leadership. Nice to Have - Hands-on experience with advanced-node considerations (multi-corner/multi-mode scale, variation, DFM, reliability signoff, foundry collateral integration). - Experience with compute/grid orchestration (LSF/SLURM/Kubernetes), containerized environments, and reproducible builds. - Flow integration for formal/CDC, low-power verification, DFT signoff, or mixed-signal/AMS-adjacent signoff needs. - Experience building QoR/runtimes dashboards and automated tapeout readiness reporting. - Prior ownership of tapeout-critical signoff checklists and release processes across multiple programs. Success in This Role Looks Like - Teams run consistent, reproducible flows with clear signoff criteria and minimal manual intervention. - Tapeout readiness is predictable: fewer late surprises, faster convergence, and strong correlation across tools and stages. - Automation and regressions catch issues early (environment drift, runset changes, library/constraint problems) before they impact schedules. - Cycle time improves measurably through runtime optimization, standardized methodology, and reusable collateral. - Cross-functional partners trust the flow: documentation is clear, support is responsive, and releases are well-managed. Location - Bengaluru, India - San Jose, CA Experience - 10+ years (scope and ownership will be aligned to experience level).
