Senior Database Administrator

Foley

• Own database reliability, performance, and availability • Lead administration, monitoring, tuning, and optimization of Microsoft SQL Server and Amazon Redshift environments • Design and maintain high availability, backup, and disaster recovery strategies that meet business SLAs • Own and optimize our AWS-based data warehouse architecture, ensuring performance, scalability, and cost efficiency • Partner with Data and Analytics teams to support reporting, analytics, and downstream AI use cases • Manage database security and access controls • Own database security across platforms, including user access, roles, permissions, encryption, and auditing • Partner with Infrastructure and Security teams to ensure compliance with internal standards and external requirements • Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to data access, integrity, and availability • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, and Analytics teams to align database solutions with product and business needs • Communicate database risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including leadership • Drive operational excellence and automation • Improve reliability through automation, scripting, and proactive monitoring • Leverage modern tooling and AI-assisted capabilities to reduce manual work and improve operational signal

Job Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience managing production database environments
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning, indexing, and HA/DR
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS data warehouse technologies, including Amazon Redshift
  • Proven experience managing database security, access controls, and permissions in regulated or security-conscious environments
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with Product, Infrastructure, Engineering, and leadership teams
  • Demonstrated AI fluency and curiosity, with experience using automation or AI-enabled tools to improve reliability, monitoring, or efficiency
