Job Description
Zoom Platform Engineer
Open Exchange Inc
Role Description We are seeking a highly technical Zoom Platform Engineer with deep, hands-on expertise across the full Zoom ecosystem — from admin configuration and Rooms architecture to live event production and escalation engineering. Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Webex, and Cisco platforms is a plus, but Zoom mastery is the core of this role. This role engineers, configures, and supports enterprise-grade virtual events and serves as a senior escalation point during high-visibility live productions. The ideal candidate is equal parts Zoom power user, network troubleshooter, and live event operator — someone who thrives in high-pressure environments where reliability is non-negotiable. This is not a helpdesk role. It is a live event engineering position operating in time-sensitive, high-stakes environments where redundancy and calm execution under pressure are critical. Key Responsibilities - Zoom Platform Engineering (Primary Focus) - Architect, configure, and administer the full Zoom product suite: Meetings, Webinars, Events, Backstage, Rooms, Phone, and ISO workflows - Own Zoom admin portal configuration including account hierarchy, security policies, feature enablement, and user provisioning - Design and maintain standardized Zoom build templates, configuration playbooks, and deployment standards - Manage Zoom Rooms deployments including hardware configuration, room profiles, and firmware management - Configure and support Zoom integrations (SSO, calendar connectors, CRM/ticketing, API workflows) - Stay current with Zoom platform releases, beta features, and roadmap changes — proactively evaluating their impact on production environments - Microsoft Teams & Webex Engineering (Secondary Focus) - Configure and support Teams Live Events, Town Halls, and Meetings including admin policy management, Teams Rooms, and meeting configuration at scale - Manage Webex Events, Webinars, and Meetings including Control Hub administration, site configuration, and hardware endpoint support - Maintain working knowledge of platform-specific capabilities (e.g., Teams recording and compliance policies, Webex Slido integration, breakout and Q&A workflows) to support events end-to-end on each platform - Serve as a competent escalation resource on Teams and Webex during live productions, with Zoom as the primary escalation anchor - Live Event Engineering & Escalation - Serve as the primary Tier 2/3 escalation engineer during live productions across Zoom, Teams, and Webex - Troubleshoot real-time audio/video, encoding, and signal routing issues with speed and precision - Diagnose and resolve network performance issues: latency, jitter, packet loss, and QoS degradation - Design and implement redundancy and failover protocols for high-visibility events - Lead structured incident response and author post-event RCA documentation - Cross-Platform & Interoperability Support - Support interoperability across Zoom, Teams, Webex, and SIP/H.323 endpoints — including native interop and third-party gateway configurations - Configure RTMP workflows and video signal routing for hybrid and broadcast productions - Advise on platform selection and configuration trade-offs based on event requirements and client environment - Optimization & Automation - Implement feature updates and platform improvements - Develop and maintain platform-specific configuration playbooks, runbooks, and technical SOPs across Zoom, Teams, and Webex - Identify automation opportunities targeting a 30–40% reduction in manual setup - Contribute to long-term scalability and platform architecture planning Qualifications - 4+ years of hands-on Zoom platform experience spanning Meetings, Webinars, Events, Rooms, and Admin - Deep familiarity with the Zoom Admin Portal — account hierarchy, security settings, feature configuration, and reporting - Proven experience engineering and supporting enterprise-scale live productions on Zoom - Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, QoS, firewalls, VLANs) - Experience with SIP/H.323 interoperability and RTMP/video routing workflows - Strong documentation and escalation management skills Preferred Qualifications - Zoom certifications (e.g., Zoom Certified Engineer or equivalent) - Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams and/or Webex - Experience with Zoom API and webhook integrations - Familiarity with AV signal chains and broadcast production workflows Core Competencies - Calm under pressure — performs consistently during high-stakes, live productions - Zoom-native systems thinker — understands the full platform ecosystem, not just individual features - Detail-oriented problem solver — methodical in diagnosis, precise in execution - Ownership mindset — takes end-to-end accountability for event outcomes - Player/coach mentality — leads by doing and elevates the team around them
