Job Description

Senior Engineer – Electrical

Qualus

• Delivering medium and low voltage electrical design solutions for outdoor and unit substations, power transformers, protection and control schemes, and related EPC projects in both brownfield and greenfield environments. • Developing equipment specifications, reviewing field data, and performing system studies including coordination, short circuit, and arc flash analysis. • Collaborating with CAD staff to produce and update electrical drawings, and providing technical recommendations based on power monitoring data. • Acting as a Qualus representative, supporting sales during customer site walks and leading cross-functional interactions to ensure optimal project outcomes. • Resource planning, project kickoff participation, adherence to safety standards, accurate documentation for invoicing, and coordination with suppliers to meet material and equipment requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related from an ABET accredited institution, preferred with a focus on power systems.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License preferred.
  • 5+ years of design engineering experience on primary power distribution, P&C schemes, and/or electrical equipment.
  • Experience developing relay protective setpoints and settings files.
  • Working knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70, ANSI C57, ANSI C37, and NESC, and other applicable codes and standards in the design of substations and industrial power distribution.
  • 2-5 years of AutoCAD experience.
  • 2-5 years using power systems modeling software such as ETAP, SKM, and/or EasyPower.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss technical recommendations with customers.
  • Ability to work independently, accurately, and with a high attention to detail.

Role Description In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud-based applications within a modern Azure environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, business stakeholders, and engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions. This position requires strong hands-on development skills combined with the ability to contribute to system design, performance optimization, and overall application reliability. You will also play a key role in ensuring code quality, participating in code reviews, and following best practices in CI/CD, security, and testing. The role involves working in an agile environment, leveraging modern tools and AI-assisted development techniques to improve efficiency, code quality, and delivery timelines.
