Human Resources Data Analyst
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
• Build advanced reporting and analytics solutions that drive workforce decisions across HR. • Design dashboards in MicroStrategy and Oracle HCM. • Perform structured data validation across Oracle, PeopleSoft, and related systems. • Deliver insights on workforce trends such as attrition, internal movement, hiring, and retirement risk. • Collaborate closely with HR stakeholders and IT partners to define requirements, enhance data quality, and create scalable BI products. • Lead end-to-end development of enterprise workforce analytics products and dashboards.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Building advanced workforce/people analytics or BI solutions with measurable impact.
- Advanced SQL for data extraction, transformation, and validation; strong data modeling fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining HR reports in Oracle HCM (OTBI and/or BI Publisher) or a comparable enterprise HCM reporting platform.
- Proficiency with MicroStrategy (or similar BI) for dashboard design, interactivity, and performance tuning.
- Strong understanding of HR data structures (recruiting, job/position, workforce movement, compensation, org hierarchy) and experience validating/reconciling data across multiple systems and supporting UAT/testing.
- Proven ability to lead projects independently, translate ambiguous stakeholder needs into clear reporting requirements, and communicate findings clearly, with strong documentation discipline and attention to data quality and governance practices.

About the Role This role designs, enhances, and optimizes Anaplan models that power Symetra’s sales incentive compensation programs, including commissions, bonuses, quotas, and performance reporting. The Model Builder translates plan documents and business requirements into scalable calculation logic, ensuring results are accurate, transparent, and audit-ready. The role supports recurring payout cycles, maintains model integrity in a production environment, and implements updates in a controlled and well-documented manner. They test and deploy model updates, support user testing, and document model logic and data flows to ensure strong governance. This role reports to the Director of Incentive Compensation & Analytics and works cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Sales, and Data teams to implement plan changes, improve automation, and reduce manual effort. This position supports incentive compensation programs impacting hundreds of sales professionals and millions of dollars in annual commission payments, directly influencing sales performance and business outcomes. What you will do - Design, enhance, and maintain Anaplan incentive compensation models and supporting data structures. - Revise and optimize database queries to source, transform, and validate sales production data used in compensation calculations. - Execute monthly incentive compensation and bonus payment cycles, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with accounting requirements. - Analyze large, complex datasets to identify and resolve calculation or data integrity issues. - Develop and apply expertise in Symetra’s products, sales structure, and incentive compensation plans across divisions and channels. - Respond to employee and business partner inquiries regarding compensation payments, calculation logic, and reporting. - Administer special payments, SPIFFs, and other compensation adjustments with appropriate financial oversight. - Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, recommend improvements, and implement scalable solutions. - Build dashboards and reporting tools that improve transparency, insight, and calculation accuracy. - Identify and implement automation and process improvements that reduce manual effort and strengthen internal controls. - Evaluate and improve model performance, scalability, and structural efficiency. - Pursue Anaplan certification and apply platform best practices to strengthen model performance and maintainability.
