• Proactively identify valuable areas of investigation that help deepen understanding of members, writers, and overall business. • Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the company to develop hypotheses and generate actionable insights. • Work with executives at Medium, including the CEO, to model and present data insights. • Build and maintain statistical and predictive models about Medium’s business. • Run research projects for leadership and cross-functional partners. • Develop and maintain quantitative models supporting forecasting and strategic planning. • Share knowledge with and mentor engineers and other stakeholders to improve their analytics capabilities. • Contribute to the broader data culture and ecosystem at Medium.
Job Requirements
- 4-6 years of experience as an in-house data scientist.
- Highly proficient in statistical programming with either Python or R.
- Comfortable writing SQL for analytical queries.
- Experience building, validating, and deploying predictive and statistical models.
- Strong collaboration skills and history of cross-team and executive-level partnership.
- Experience applying modeling techniques to problems unique to social platforms or subscription/membership businesses is a plus.
- Familiarity with ML engineering practices, dbt, or data engineering is a plus.
