Data Governance Consultant – Microsoft Purview
Quisitive
• Own the data governance setup in Microsoft Purview from a business and governance perspective • Partner closely with customers to define governance structures, roles, and processes • Guide customers through initial Purview adoption, best practices, and early-stage enablement • Serve as a trusted advisor, helping customers understand not just how to use Purview—but why • Assign and manage Purview Data Map roles for project team members • Register Azure data sources such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, and Azure SQL Database • Configure and run metadata scans to ingest assets into Purview • Enable and validate data lineage • Partner with internal infrastructure teams on ADF or Synapse pipeline configuration for lineage tracking, when applicable • Define and configure Unified Catalog roles • Establish a domain hierarchy aligned to the customer’s business • Create and manage data glossary terms and critical data elements • Define data products and associated data product policies • Associate cataloged data assets to data products to improve discoverability and trust • Define and implement data quality rules (simple to medium complexity) • Review and interpret data quality metrics and reports • Provide actionable recommendations to improve data health transparency and governance maturity
Job Requirements
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview, including data catalog, lineage, glossary, and data products
- Strong background in data governance, metadata management, and data quality
- Experience working with Azure data services (Fabric, Synapse, Azure SQL, ADF)
- Experience with Master Data Management (MDM), including designing and implementing workflows that streamline data processes and ensure consistent, accurate data handling across the organization.
- Ability to perform business analysis, gather requirements, and translate them into governance configuration
- Comfortable working directly with customers and guiding early-stage adoption and change
