Onsite Interpreter
Global Language System
• Conduct face-to-face interpreting sessions between Lao-speaking clients and English-speaking professionals. • Ensure accurate and contextually appropriate interpretation without altering the original meaning. • Adhere to ethical codes that protect the confidentiality and impartiality of the interpretation process. • Assist in translating written documents from Lao to English and vice versa as needed. • Participate in continuous education to enhance professional language skills and understanding of specialized terms in various fields. • Manage scheduling and client interactions with professionalism and punctuality.
Job Requirements
- Proficiency in Lao and English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in professional interpreting.
- Certification from an accredited interpreting body is preferred (e.g., CCHI, NBCMI).
- Strong understanding of cultural nuances in both languages.
- Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings.
- Flexible to work variable hours, including evenings and weekends.

Role Description Equestrian Canada (EC), the national governing body for equestrian sport and industry, is seeking a skilled Translation Coordinator with experience overseeing the translation needs of an organization, as well as with a strong talent for high quality, consistent and efficient English-French translation. As a key member of our Brand & Commercial team, the successful candidate will: - Translate all public-facing communications using translation tools and resources, including AI and external service providers. - Deliver high quality translated communications in various areas, including equestrian reporting, community engagement, communications project management, sport communications, marketing campaigns, social media, and more. Qualifications - Post-secondary education in Translation, Linguistics, Communication, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). - Bilingualism (English-French) is required. - Equestrian knowledge strongly preferred. - Proficient use of Microsoft Word. - Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint. - Experience with HTML/CMS preferred. - Strong attention to detail. - High level of integrity and consistent professionalism. - Positive attitude, desire to improve and work in a team environment. Requirements - Manage the flow of translation requests and provide translation support to all departments across EC. - Translate a wide range of communications deliverables from English to French, including sport releases, e-newsletter articles, web content, and social media posts. - Use EC tools and resources, including AI and external translation providers, to ensure timely French translation of EC communications and products. - Manage and review the relationship with external translation providers as required. - Review externally translated materials to ensure accuracy, consistent language use, and alignment with national messaging. - Use and continue to develop sport-specific terminology databases.
