This role ensures the integrity of financial information, supports in-center & corporate operations, and provides actionable insights to drive profitability and operational excellence. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in retail accounting and multi-state revenue environments (brick-and-mortar), along with strong leadership and process optimization skills.
Job Requirements
- Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations
- Lead all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and inventory accounting
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition across all centers
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures
- Inventory & Retail Accounting
- Oversee inventory accounting, valuation, reserves, and cost of goods sold
- Support new store openings and retail expansion initiatives with financial oversight
- Internal Controls & Compliance
- Establish and maintain strong internal control frameworks
- Establish annual business insurance renewals and assist with 401k management.
- Ensure compliance with sales tax, payroll tax, and other regulatory requirements
- Coordinate annual audits and serve as primary liaison with external auditors
- Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
- Partner with FP&A on budgeting and forecasting processes
- Conduct weekly cash forecasting, along with Loan Reporting & Covenant Calculations
- Provide variance analysis and performance insights to executive leadership
- Develop KPIs for retail productivity, inventory turnover, and margin performance
- Support strategic initiatives including new product launches and promotional campaigns
- Systems & Process Improvement
- Optimize ERP and retail systems to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency
- Lead automation and process improvement initiatives
- Ensure proper integration between POS and accounting systems
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
- 6+ years in a Controller or Senior Controller role with 3+ years managing a team
- Multi-unit experience overseeing a minimum of 40 locations required; retail or beauty experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of multi-state environments
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Rippling, or similar HRIS platforms)
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with retail/POS integrations
- Proven ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
