Tax Planning & Analysis Manager

• Support the company’s taxable income and effective tax rate projection process, including managing data requests from groups outside tax and coordinating the required inputs and support from Tax Operations and Tax Strategy. • Assist with scenario analyses related to taxable income and/or effective tax rate projections, preparing clear and accurate analytical support for review by senior team members. • Partner with FP&A to understand pre-tax financial projections and help translate that information into tax-relevant inputs. • Support quarterly tax provision processes including: • Interim period tax provision calculations • Valuation allowance support • Tax accounting considerations related to third-party and intercompany transactions • Support quarterly documentation of tax and accounting treatment for intercompany transactions, partnering with Tax Operations and Tax Strategy and reflecting impacts in taxable income and ETR projections. • Contribute to competitor and peer analysis projects by gathering data, performing analysis, and summarizing findings. • Support the maintenance of U.S. earnings and profits (E&P) balances and subsidiary tax basis calculations for U.S. and non U.S. entities. • Prepare workpapers, analyses, and memoranda that are incorporated into the broader tax provision and planning process. • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across Tax Operations, Tax Strategy, FP&A, and other internal stakeholders.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA, CMA, or other relevant certifications preferred but not required.
- Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, Master’s in Taxation) a plus.
- 4-6 years of tax experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm.
- Insurance tax experience and familiarity with tax issues for multinational financial institutions is required.
- Proven experience in supporting tax compliance, tax provision, and tax planning functions.
- Must be a self-starter, strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in tax software and financial systems.
- Must have strong issue identification skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with demonstrated ability to work efficiently and with integrity.
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines with appropriate guidance.
- Demonstrated follow-through, organization and accountability.
- Attention to detail, proactive, flexibility/adaptability, and enthusiastic.
- Strong work ethic, listening skills, and openness to feedback and learning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex tax issues to the Head of Tax and senior tax professionals.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across Fortitude’s tax teams, internal partners, and external advisors.

• Negotiate client tax resolutions and completing tax returns while acting as the main point of contact throughout the case • Work from home/office on an independent contracted basis • Case assignment is flexible and based on experience • Adhere to best practices, and work within the confines of all regulatory compliance standards.
• Execute all tax-related activities for the organization and its subsidiaries, ensuring compliance and optimizing tax strategies. • Ensure timely and accurate filing of federal, state, local and international income and gross receipt tax returns, working closely with external tax advisory firms. • Work with the R&D team to ensure accurate and timely release of Forms 1099 and T4A for U.S. and Canadian real estate agents, while answering any questions from our agents. • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and complete financial reporting for tax purposes in accordance with Accounting Standard Codification Topic 740, including interacting with our financial statement audit firm. • Support cross-border tax operations in Canada, Israel, and India, to ensure that appropriate transfer pricing documentation is maintained and that the company’s transfer pricing complies with the arm’s length standard. • Automate tax processes to be more effective and efficient in tax compliance and reporting. • Serve as internal point of contact for tax-related inquiries during audits and liaise with external tax auditors and tax authorities as needed. • Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring the organization remains compliant and strategically positioned.
