Overview A Payment Accuracy, Coordination of Benefits (COB) Specialist, is a member of the greater Coordination of Benefits Business Unit (BU). Coordination of Benefits involves situations in which an individual is covered by two or more health plans. Our specialists are passionate about what they do and are experts at reviewing, discovering, and validating substantial amounts of data and delivering results and insights for our clients. A Payment Accuracy, COB Specialist, is responsible for reviewing and analyzing claims, member, and group data to identify instances of recoverable claims for the benefit of Cotiviti and our clients. Under direct supervision, this individual will be responsible for establishing the correct order of liability for our clients’ members. This individual will also be responsible for inputting accurate claim recovery information in the proprietary Cotiviti software tools, as well as assisting with related inquiries throughout the claim recovery process. Responsibilities - This individual will work under direct supervision and will be monitored for efficiency in production and quality review of assigned work. - Demonstrates a strong ability to proactively develop and uphold a solid grasp of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) guidelines to accurately determine liability order. - Leverages cutting-edge Cotiviti audit tools such as the Recovery Management System (RMS), COB Tracker, and client-specific systems to conduct thorough member investigations. - Creates detail-oriented, accurate notes in Cotiviti audit tools and/or client tools throughout the member investigation. - Meets or exceeds standards of production and quality as identified by compliance and regulatory guidelines and set forth by the Team Lead and/or Manager when reviewing concept and claim identifications for the client. - Prepares and evaluates responses to client disputes both internally and externally within the Business Unit as needed. - Identify and solve problems by classifying errors and overpayments for our healthcare clients. - Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement for efficiencies within reporting and streamlining research processes. - Demonstrates understanding of Cotiviti policies & procedures, and external regulatory requirements and performs duties in accordance with such regulatory requirements. - Has a basic understanding of the healthcare industry, as well as proven track record of delivering results. - Assures confidentiality and security of all data, adhering to all HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) laws and requirements. Qualifications - High School Diploma - Required. - Bachelor’s degree (Preferred) and/or a minimum of one (1) year of related experience in healthcare. - At least 1-year Cotiviti experience is recommended for individuals seeking their next opportunity internally. Base compensation ranges from $20.00 to $23.00 per hour. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs. This role is eligible for discretionary bonus consideration. Nonexempt employees are eligible to receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a given week, or as otherwise required by applicable state law. The role We’re looking for a Freight Audit Analyst to help ensure the financial accuracy and health of Curri’s invoicing operations. This role is responsible for investigating rejected invoices, identifying root causes of billing discrepancies, and ensuring corrected invoices are compliant with customer contracts and billing policies. You will work closely with customers, carriers, operations, and internal teams to resolve billing issues, provide necessary documentation, and accelerate payment cycles. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with large data sets while communicating effectively across teams. This role plays a critical part in improving Curri’s invoicing processes, identifying opportunities for automation, and ensuring our customers receive accurate and timely billing. What you will do - Audit and investigate rejected freight invoices to ensure compliance with customer billing policies and contracted rates. - Compile and analyze rejection data across multiple customers (including US Bank–managed accounts and AFS) and maintain a consolidated tracking system for ongoing analysis. - Identify the root cause of billing discrepancies by comparing Curri charges against customer contract terms and submitted documentation. - Collaborate with internal teams—including operations, product, and sales—as well as external stakeholders to resolve billing issues and resubmit corrected invoices. - Communicate with carriers to gather documentation, resolve billing discrepancies, and maintain strong operational relationships. - Coordinate calls or meetings with carriers and partners when necessary to resolve complex billing issues efficiently. - Analyze rejection patterns related to volume, service charges, or incorrect billing and recommend process improvements. - Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements and communicate findings to operations and product teams. - Generate regular reports on freight audit findings, cost savings, and key performance indicators (KPIs). - Escalate recurring audit issues to product teams to support automation and prevent future billing errors. - Monitor reporting systems and run queries to ensure invoices are imported and processed daily, minimizing delays in the billing cycle. Employment Type: Full timeShift: Day Shift Description: POSITION PURPOSE Work Remote Position (Pay Range: $17.1538-$25.7307) Performs day-to-day activities required to process credit account balances from patients and insurances within the Hospital and/or Medical Group revenue operations ($3-5B NPR) of a Patient Business Services (PBS) location. Serves as a member of a team at an assigned PBS location responsible for reducing patient balance account receivable credits and coordinating with the customer service team to communicate to patients regarding overpayments. Responsibilities require expertise in determining the root cause of credit balances and in taking the appropriate steps to resolve issues resulting in full adjudication of an account. Work activities include posting patient balance refunds and rebilling claims as needed to maintain manageable credit accounts receivable and to ensure accurate submission of claims and patient statements. This position reports directly to the Supervisor Payment Posting.
