General Counsel
Enveritas
• Provide legal advice on all matters related to Enveritas' US and international operations • Contract review: review, draft, and negotiate agreements between clients and Enveritas • Provide policy and legal advice across departments: flag important issues and potential legal risks to leadership and department leads • Strategic planning: contribute to programmatic priorities, be a thought partner with the leadership team • Management of foreign subsidiary registrations: engage, manage, and communicate with local lawyers, including but not limited to issues around HR, Finance, local laws and regulations • Data protection: overseeing new and changing data privacy laws on an international scope, translating laws into concrete action items as it relates to staff/clients/farmers' data protection • Employment matters: provide advice on management of US and international PEO, EORs, and independent contractors • Product counseling for Enveritas’ software-based regulatory compliance product • And other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years experience as a practicing attorney in the United States, preferably with in-house experience at a global company
- JD or LLM from an accredited US law school
- Must be licensed to practice law, and in good standing, in at least one US state and be able to work in the US without sponsorship
- Demonstrated understanding of software and/or SaaS industry, intellectual property law, data privacy (including GDPR), tax law, employment law, contract law/compliance, ESG issues (including EUDR), and overall corporate compliance
- Prior experience in global non-profits, multinational corporations, or law firms
- Prior experience managing international local counsel
- Ability to think strategically and develop innovative legal strategies that align with the organization’s goals and objectives, while also anticipating and addressing potential legal challenges and risks
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, including senior management, as well as external partners, clients, regulators, and legal counsel
- Someone at ease in a changing sector and able to excel by operating with a sense of urgency while remaining flexible, open-minded, and resourceful
