Data Center Physical Security Intern

Role Description EdgeConneX is looking for summer interns. This will be a paid, 10-week internship from June 1, 2026, to August 7, 2026. We are seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy college intern to join our Data Center Physical Security team for the summer. This internship is ideal for someone with database experience and a passion for improving operational efficiency through data management and reporting. The intern will support efforts to streamline data collection, enhance reporting metrics, and contribute to the overall effectiveness of physical security operations across our data center portfolio. Key Responsibilities - Assist in organizing and maintaining physical security data across multiple platforms. - Support the development and automation of reporting dashboards and metrics. - Help consolidate and normalize data from access control systems, surveillance platforms, and audit logs. - Participate in physical security audits and site inspections. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data gaps and reporting needs. - Document and improve standard operating procedures related to data handling and reporting. - Assist with incident tracking and trend analysis using structured data. - Attend team meetings and contribute to project planning and execution. Qualifications - Currently enrolled in a college or university program pursuing a degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Security Management, Investigations, Intelligence, International Relations, or a related field. - Completed at least two years of undergraduate coursework. - Experience working with databases (e.g., SQL, Access, or cloud-based platforms). - Strong interest in physical security, data analytics, or critical infrastructure protection. - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. - Must be able to pass a background check. Preferred Qualifications - Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). - Familiarity with access control systems and surveillance technologies. - Prior internship or work experience in a security or data analytics role. - Basic understanding of data center operations or critical infrastructure environments. - Curiosity about physical security technologies and willingness to learn new platforms. Learning Outcomes - Gain hands-on experience in managing and analyzing physical security data. - Develop skills in reporting, dashboard creation, and operational metrics. - Build foundational knowledge of data-driven security operations in a data center environment.
