Staff Solutions Engineer
Afresh
• Lead multiple integration projects concurrently, managing technical delivery across customers while independently scoping novel projects like enhancements to existing integrations or new feature rollouts • Act as a subject matter expert on Afresh's integration architecture, defining and evolving standards for schema mapping, data contracts, ETL requirements, and documentation structure that enable repeatable, scalable solutions • Lead technical activities with customers, deeply understanding their IT systems and data outputs and how these map to the Afresh solution • Lead technical integration delivery across data engineering, product engineering, and data science; identify technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, and drive improvements to completion • Partner with Engineering and Product to prioritize backlog based on patterns you identify across customer implementations, translating repeat needs into product-aligned solutions • Drive organizational evolution for the SE team by building tools, templates, and playbooks that improve how SEs deliver work; lead onboarding and enablement programs that level up the team's capabilities • Represent the SE organization in strategic forums, contributing to roadmap planning and cross-functional initiatives that improve delivery velocity, quality, or customer outcomes • Balance business and customer needs with technical constraints to get cross-functional consensus on innovative solutions, acting as a consultant and partner to technical teams • Coach and mentor peer SEs, serving as a thought partner on complex technical problems, stakeholder dynamics, and effective collaboration across functions
Job Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex integration projects simultaneously and independently drive end-to-end scoping for ad-hoc or novel technical initiatives
- Track record of building organizational capability—creating reusable frameworks, standards, or enablement programs that improved team execution or scalability
- Experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Engineering, GTM) through subject matter expertise and consistent delivery
- This role is ideal for someone who is proficient in internal technical project management, and also excels in client-facing situations
- Candidates must also possess data transformation and design experience, as well as proven abilities to work jointly with data engineers, data scientists, and subject matter experts to manage refinement and implementation of customer integration requirements
- Organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to communicate details across levels and profiles
- Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and other dashboarding tools used in an analyst’s toolkit
- Ability to continuously learn, work independently, and make decisions with minimal supervision to keep projects on track
- Open to travel (up to 10%)

This role is for someone who deeply understands elementary ELA, social studies, science of reading, and knowledge-building curriculum design, and knows how to confidently bring that expertise into sales conversations, demos, pilots, and early implementations. You will be the person districts trust when they ask: “Will this actually work for our teachers and students?” You will directly influence revenue, shape early customer success, and help define the future of knowledge-building instruction at scale. What You’ll Do - Partner closely with Sales to support district conversations, discovery calls, demos, and adoptions. - Act as the subject-matter expert in ELA, social studies, and integrated, knowledge-building curriculum during sales cycles. - Translate complex instructional design and deep pedagogical expertise (science of reading, background knowledge, coherence, inquiry) into clear, compelling, district-ready narratives tailored to the district’s unique context. - Lead high-impact product demos that connect instructional integrity to real classroom practice. - Partner closely with Product Marketing to craft and refine sales enablement materials, messaging, and proof points. - This role will require 20-40% travel to prospective partner districts. - Support onboarding and implementation for early adopter districts, ensuring strong early wins. - Partner closely with Partner Experience and Curriculum teams to align implementation with district goals. - Serve as a feedback loop from the field—bringing real-world insights back into product and go-to-market strategy. - Help districts plan rollout strategies that are realistic, sustainable, and instructionally sound. Qualifications - Deep expertise in ELA and social studies instruction (K–5 preferred). - Strong understanding of the science of reading and knowledge-building curriculum. - Experience in EdTech, curriculum publishing, and/or district-level instructional leadership. - Experience supporting or participating in sales cycles, pilots, or district adoption processes. - Exceptional communication skills—able to make complex ideas clear, compelling, and actionable. - Comfort working cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Product, Curriculum, and Customer Success. - Familiarity with district procurement, RFPs, and adoption timelines. - Experience supporting early-stage or newly launched products.
