Role Description We are looking for a Principal Network Engineer who thrives on solving complex routing problems and designing resilient network architectures. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will work on challenging real-world networks, lead advanced troubleshooting efforts, and help shape the technical direction of our infrastructure. You will be part of a highly collaborative engineering team responsible for building and supporting networks that serve a growing customer base. This role offers the opportunity to work deeply with BGP driven WAN architectures, Fortinet and Cisco platforms, and multi-site routing environments while mentoring other engineers and influencing engineering standards across the organization. Responsibilities - Design and implement complex Layer 3 network architectures - Engineer and troubleshoot BGP based WAN and multi-site routing environments - Perform advanced configuration and troubleshooting using CLI on Fortinet FortiGate and Cisco platforms - Architect routing strategies involving: - Route redistribution - Route filtering and prefix lists - AS path prepending and local preference - BGP communities and traffic engineering - ECMP and multipath routing - Diagnose protocol and packet level issues using CLI tools including routing analysis, debugs, and packet captures - Design high availability network architectures that maintain service continuity - Troubleshoot traffic flow issues involving routing and firewall policy interactions - Lead technical response during high severity incidents - Produce clear documentation and network diagrams to support engineering operations - Mentor engineers and help elevate the overall technical capabilities of the team Qualifications - 7+ years hands-on routing experience - Deep understanding of BGP (iBGP, eBGP, route reflectors, filtering, path selection) - General understanding of OSPF - Strong grasp of routing theory (not just configuration memorization) - Ability to read and interpret routing tables and protocol states quickly - CLI Mastery (Mandatory) - Advanced CLI configuration and troubleshooting on Fortinet FortiGate platforms - Ability to perform live troubleshooting in production environments via CLI - Deep knowledge of TCP/IP - Strong subnetting and summarization skills - VLANs, trunking, and STP fundamentals - NAT and policy-based routing - VPN technologies (IPSec preferred) Preferred Qualifications - Fortinet NSE 4/5/7 or equivalent experience - Experience with multi-ISP failover designs - Experience serving K-12, government, or MSP environments Benefits - Competitive compensation package based on performance - Medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverage as of the 1st of the month - Health savings accounts - Flexible savings accounts - 401(k) plan with company match - 7 annual holidays and flexible time off options

• Support the administration and maintenance of LAN, WAN, and Datacenter network environments. • Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot network hardware including firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, and wireless access points. • Work with technologies such as Cisco (Nexus, ACI), Palo Alto, F5 BIG-IP, and Arista. • Handle day-to-day operational tasks, including: Incident investigation and resolution Change requests Troubleshooting and remediation Performance monitoring. • Participate in root cause analysis for network incidents and implement corrective actions. • Monitor network performance and ensure high availability of production systems. • Assist in network infrastructure projects (implementation, upgrades, migrations). • Support hardware/software upgrades and patching activities. • Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, network diagrams, procedures, and inventory. • Follow network security best practices and support audit/compliance activities. • Participate in rotational on-call support for critical systems (24/7 environment).

• Develop and provide input for network architectures for our systems and customers • Translate user and system requirements to system functionalities and reality • Develop and implement network security architectures with HAIPE, IPSEC, TLS, and other protocols • WAN, LAN, WLAN, VOIP setup and troubleshooting • Support design, development, and test efforts for an airborne tactical networking system • Implement router protocols including OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, BGP, PPPoE, and MANET • Implement IA controls and ensure compliance with DoD RMF • Work as a team throughout the design process, supporting sprint planning sessions, code reviews, and scrums • Get in front of real-world operators to understand needs and requirements from an end-user point of view • Direct enterprise-level engineering oversight for multi-million-dollar programs, enforcing rigorous technical baselines, proactive risk registers, and transparent status comms to executives and mission partners. • Partner with PMs and chief engineers to apply Fuse’s Warfighter Engineering & Design Process, driving on-schedule, on-spec delivery. • Translate forward-looking concepts into modular reference architectures that unlock future capability inserts and rapid refresh cycles. • Champion emerging tech adoption—AI-enabled network orchestration, SOSA-aligned hardware, zero-trust enclaves—by codifying best practices and coaching scrum teams through thorny edge cases. • Align customer pain points with IR&D dollars, prioritizing prototypes that close validated gaps and boost ROI. • Continuously scan the battlespace: track regulatory shifts, MIL-STD updates, and competitor pivots to recalibrate tech roadmaps ahead of the curve. • Co-author cross-functional product roadmaps with Technology, Growth & Strategy, and Operations, ensuring every campaign has a tech glide-slope and a clear value prop. • Serve as the technical conscience in executive reviews, translating complex trade-space decisions into crisp, business-centered narratives • Solicit and integrate feedback from operators, customers, and internal guilds to keep initiatives mission-relevant and revenue-aligned. • Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic decisions and identify growth opportunities. • Support the hunt and qualification of new opportunities: leverage intel on platform roadmaps, SWaP-C trends, and coalition needs to seed the funnel. • Nurture strategic alliances across DoD PEOs, prime integrators, and niche innovators, positioning Fuse as the go-to edge-networking house.
