• Lead structural engineering efforts for utility substation projects including control enclosures, transformer foundations, dead-end structures, capacitor banks, and static masts • Review project documents and develop structural Basis of Design (BOD), including loads, design codes, geotechnical inputs, and material assumptions • Design and size shallow and deep foundations (e.g., spread footings, drilled piers, embedded posts) based on geotechnical recommendations and equipment loads • Perform load calculations (dead, live, wind, seismic) and develop structural models using accepted FEA tools (e.g., RISA, RAM, STAAD) • Coordinate with geotechnical engineers to integrate foundation performance assumptions and loading capacities (e.g., LPILE, MFAD inputs) • Prepare structural drawings, elevations, details, and specifications using AutoCAD and/or Revit for each milestone (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC)

Job Requirements

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • 8+ years of structural engineering experience, including at least 3–5 years specifically supporting high voltage substations or transmission infrastructure
  • Proficiency with structural design software (e.g., RISA, RAM, STAAD, or equivalent FEA tools)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; Revit experience a plus
  • Strong understanding of applicable codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, NESC, IEEE, utility-specific structural criteria)
  • Experience with interpretation of geotechnical reports and integration of foundation parameters (bearing capacity, LPILE, corrosion, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and client-facing skills
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for field visits, site walkdowns, or client meetings (approx. 5–10%)
