The Mobile Diesel Mechanic/Trailer Tech position is a traveling mechanic position. You will work from home being on call, with no office to report to on a regular basis and will drive to our customers’ breakdown site or worksite locations, upon being dispatched to perform repairs on commercial heavy-duty trucks and trailers. Responsibilities & Duties: - We are seeking an experienced Diesel Technician (Level II or Level III). - In this position you will work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, providing information or assistance, resolving their problems, and satisfying their expectations. - Drive to worksites to diagnose and complete complex repairs on heavy duty trucks, trailers, etc. - Read job order, observe and listen to vehicle in operation to determine malfunction and plan work procedures. - Apply the use of specialized tools and follow documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools. - Complete required documents, such as service worksheets, time sheets, and warranty claims through handwritten forms and/or business system. - Maintain company issued service truck, conduct safety checks and daily pre/post trip inspections. - Other duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications: - Strong professionalism when working cohesively with all customers. - Ability to work with no direct on-site supervision. - Ability to make effective judgments to prioritize workload and time allocation. - Ability to carry out full diagnostics using diagnostic tools on different product types; Experience using Cummins Insite Diagnostic Tool. - Experience performing all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs). - Ability to properly use parts books, services manuals, and QuickServe online. - Experience using Cummins EDS System. Education and Certifications: - High School Diploma or Equivalent - 5+ years of experience working on heavy duty vehicle - State Certified Diesel Mechanic Certification highly preferred - Post-Secondary Certificate or training as a Diesel Technician - Cummins Certified Master Diesel Technician / Mechanic preferred - Experience with Ottawa/Kalmar products Physical Requirements: - Must be able to lift/carry 30lbs frequently. - Must be able to lift/carry 50lbs occasionally. - Must be able to lift/carry 100lbs during team lifts infrequently. • Perform on-site installation of systems and equipment and ongoing preventive maintenance, repair and calibration after installation • Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services to troublesome equipment • Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair and maintenance at customer's sites • Perform administrative functions such as: writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheet and expense sheets on a complete timely, and thorough basis • Signs off on all changes implemented • Drive customer satisfaction through commitment to quality • Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards • Knowledge to troubleshoot and provide routine maintenance checkout for wide range of equipment vintage • Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and a reference for future outages • Ensure all parts needed for the job are shipped to the site • Perform walk-downs during installation to ensure that the customer’s contractors are working properly • Perform aftermarket upgrades that need to be performed at the site level • Perform other duties as assigned
