Job Requirements

Job Title: Pricing Specialist Employment Type: Full-Time Position Overview A transportation and logistics organization is seeking a Pricing Specialist with direct experience in drayage and intermodal logistics. The position requires someone who understands how port drayage actually moves and can protect margin in a high-variance, accessorial-heavy environment. This role sits between sales, operations, and carriers to ensure pricing accuracy, cost validation, and profitability before freight is executed. Key Responsibilities • Build and manage pricing for import and export container drayage moves across U.S. ports • Analyze lane costs including fuel, chassis, port fees, detention, demurrage, and accessorial charges • Create spot quotes and contract pricing while maintaining strong margin control • Partner with operations teams to validate actual execution costs against quoted pricing • Identify pricing leakage and correct underperforming lanes or accounts • Maintain and optimize pricing models within TMS or internal systems • Support sales teams with competitive and profitable pricing strategies • Track market trends across key port regions such as NY/NJ, Savannah, Charleston, and others Requirements Requirements • 5 plus years of experience in drayage, intermodal, or container logistics pricing or operations • Strong understanding of port operations and container flow • Deep knowledge of accessorials including detention, demurrage, and per diem • Understanding of chassis usage and driver cost structures • Experience pricing FCL container moves, not general freight • Ability to break down cost per move and defend pricing decisions • Comfortable working cross-functionally with operations and pushing back when pricing does not align with execution • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to margin impact Preferred Background • Experience working with East Coast or major U.S. port markets • Hands-on exposure to drayage execution, not just pricing analysis • Familiarity with TMS systems and pricing tools
