GIS Data Collector – Electric Utility Systems
Vantage Point Solutions
• Perform field data collection of electric distribution infrastructure, including poles, conductors, transformers, anchors, and other equipment. • Use AppSuite and other GIS-based mobile applications to record asset locations, attributes, and conditions. • Capture GPS coordinates, photographs, and asset details while adhering to established data collection standards. • Identify and document pole hardware configurations and attachments (communication attachments, transformers, switches, etc.). • Verify existing utility records and update discrepancies found in the field. • Maintain high standards of data accuracy and completeness. • Work closely with GIS technicians, engineers, and project managers to ensure project deliverables are met. • Follow safety procedures and utility fieldwork best practices.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s degree or coursework in GIS, surveying, engineering technology, or a related field is preferred
- 1–3+ years of experience in utility field data collection, GIS mapping, or electric utility operations preferred
- Experience with AppSuite mobile data collection software
- Working knowledge of electric distribution systems, including poles, crossarms, insulators, transformers, and related hardware
- Prior experience performing utility field data collection or staking
- Familiarity with GIS software or asset management systems
- Ability to read utility maps, construction prints, and distribution schematics
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to project sites.
