Job Description

Director, Learning and Development – Tax

Aprio

• Collaborate with Practice and function leaders to assess and prioritize current and future learning and talent needs, ensuring alignment with Aprio’s strategic objectives. • Design and propose innovative learning and development solutions, utilizing adult learning principles and forward-thinking instructional strategies that address identified needs. • Serve as a strategic advisor to Practice leaders and their teams, engaging in strategic consultative discussions to define business challenges, identify performance gaps, and determine whether learning or other interventions best address Aprio's needs. • Partner with the Learning Experience Design Studio, providing subject matter expertise, guidance, and feedback as they build and implement engaging learning solutions. • Build and sustain productive relationships with key stakeholders, including technical experts and senior leaders, to drive adoption and continuous improvement of learning solutions. • Apply learning analytics and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of learning initiatives, making recommendations for improvement where necessary. • Champion the reputation and visibility of Aprio’s Learning & Development function by shaping a high-quality portfolio of learning experiences that strengthens the brand value of L&D with internal Aprio team members and external Alliance members. • Collaborate with Aprio Alliance leaders to develop learning offerings that add value for Alliance members and can be commercialized and sold as part of Aprio’s external solutions. • Conduct discovery conversations with internal and external stakeholders to deeply understand learning and talent development needs and translate these insights into actionable design requirements. • Navigate and resolve conflict when approaches to learning differ, mediating between perspectives and guiding teams toward effective solutions. • Influence and present compelling ideas and strategies to small and large groups—including executive audiences—driving alignment and enthusiasm for learning initiatives. • Collaborate with the Manager of Learning Operations on establishing workflows, version control and quality assurance for all design work.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field; equivalent practical experience designing and delivering learning solutions will also be considered.
  • 7+ years of technical experience in the learning and development space is required.
  • Previous experience with the software applications Cognota, Performitiv, and LCvista or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in adult learning theory, instructional design methodologies, and learning metrics.
  • Proven ability to assess talent and learning needs, and to design, implement, and measure impactful development programs.
  • Experience in change management and in partnering with business leaders to drive organizational transformation through learning.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust across diverse groups.
  • Strong skills in discovery conversations, needs assessment, and translating insights into creative solutions.
  • Confidence and diplomacy in addressing conflict and influencing outcomes when stakeholders disagree.
