Role Description An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Commercial Underwriter to join a fast-paced, tech-driven financial services environment. This role focuses on underwriting and assessing credit risk for Small & Medium Enterprise (SME) clients. The successful candidate will work remotely while aligning with USA business hours (4pm–1am SA time). - Assess and underwrite SME credit applications in line with the company policy and risk appetite - Analyse financial statements, bank statements, cash flow, and supporting documentation - Evaluate risk and make sound credit decisions within mandate - Structure deals appropriately to balance risk and profitability - Liaise with sales and operations teams to obtain additional information where required - Ensure that all underwriting decisions are compliant with internal policies and regulatory standards - Maintain accurate records and provide clear decision rationales Qualifications - Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in commercial / SME underwriting - Strong understanding of credit risk principles - Experience analysing financial statements and cash flow - BCom degree or relevant qualification (CFA / CA(SA) candidates welcome) - Strong analytical and decision-making skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Comfortable working independently in a remote environment - Able to work USA hours (16:00–01:00 SA time) consistently Requirements - Strong attention to detail - Commercial acumen - Sound judgement and risk assessment ability - Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment - Deadline-driven and self-managed Benefits - Fully remote working environment - Exposure to international markets - Dynamic, performance-driven team - Competitive remuneration
