We are looking for a strategic architect who can design, execute and build our near & long-term financial goals and targets, own our planning cycles, dictate how we measure success, and serve as a "data automation thought leader" to elevate the entire finance function. You will be the central point of truth for how Engine invests its capital, challenging the status quo and ensuring that every dollar spent is a deliberate move toward growth. Key Responsibilities 1. Design, execute and build near & long-term financial goals - Target setting: You will own near and long term topline and profitability target setting for Engine’s business in partnership with the business’s executive leadership team - Build investment frameworks: In partnership with peers on the Finance team, you will design and build investment frameworks to ensure we are maximizing return on our product, GTM and people investments Drive execution: In partnership with the CFO and Head of Finance, you will execution of our investment plans, ensuring appropriate guardrails and calibrations to ensure we are delivering on our plan 1. Architect of the Operating Cadence - Own the Financial Lifecycle: Lead the annual planning process, long-range forecasting, and the continuous building of our financial model. - Define Performance: Establish the "rhythms" of the business. You will dictate how we talk about performance and whether we are truly achieving our goals. - Operational Rhythms: Deliver and refine the Weekly Business Reviews (WBRs) and Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs), ensuring the leadership team is looking at the right signals, not just noise. 2. Tooling, Automation & Data Excellence - Efficiency Leader: Drive a "rising tide" across the finance team by automating manual processes. Your goal is to give time back to the team through sophisticated tooling. - Data Validity: Act as the internal champion for data integrity. You will challenge leadership (including the CFO) to ensure our systems provide a single, undisputed version of the truth. - Center of Excellence: Build the framework for how Engine handles investment decisioning, ensuring we have a unified view of spend across all departments. 3. Strategic Investment & Benchmarking - Storytelling through Data: Help tell the "why" behind our investments. You’ll be responsible for benchmarking Engine against the industry and identifying where we are winning and where we are being crippled by inefficiency. - Capital Allocation: Identify where to double down and where to pull back. You aren't just tracking the budget; you are advising on how to optimize it. Who You Are - Point of View Driven: You are an outspoken FP&A leader who dictates how the business grows and are comfortable articulating a strong, data-backed stance. - Principled based and curious: You have an innate desire to understand “the why” behind the numbers and understand the right questions and analyses to get answers. You aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo and are constantly asking how we can do things better. - Disciplined Operator: You understand the importance of sticking to a plan while remaining agile enough to course-correct when the data demands it. - Technically Savvy: You view spreadsheets as a starting point, not the destination. You have a passion for financial systems, automation, and building scalable "self-serve" finance environments. - Strategic Challenger: You are comfortable pushing back on executive leadership to ensure financial discipline and strategic alignment. Qualifications - Experience: 8-12+ years in Corporate Finance, FP&A, or Strategic Finance, ideally within a high-growth tech or "Engine-like" environment. - Systems Expertise: Proven track record of implementing or optimizing financial planning software (e.g., Adaptive, Anaplan) and data visualization tools (e.g. Looker). - Leadership: Experience managing high-performing teams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
