Role Description The Director, Transmission and Strategy will manage and lead the Strategy of SB Energy’s utility scale solar, energy storage and Load projects. The Director will also provide multi-disciplinary support to prospecting, Origination, and Operations and work with various groups such as Development, Project Finance, Strategy & Investment, Operations and during Financing of the projects. The Director presents as subject matter expert for both internal and external clients on interconnection and transmission issues related to development and financing of the projects. Responsibilities - Work with Leadership Team to own and lead the Strategy for SB Energy’s utility scale solar, energy storage and Load projects. - In conjunction with the appropriate support team, reviews and develops Load applications, study agreements, Interconnection agreements and coordinate with engineering on associated drawings, specifications, and models. - Manages third party consultants or with Transmission Analytics/Grid Integration Group to perform market analysis, power flow, dynamic, short-circuit and reactive capability of the projects. Provides critical reviews of third-party reports. - Prepare and/or be a key contributor in key contracts. - Tracks transmission expansion plans and related policies for the Load process & Interconnection Process. Qualifications - Extensive knowledge of interconnection process for ISO’s in USA. - Working knowledge of general FERC interconnection process and specific requirements for all ISO’s in USA. - Minimum of 5+ years of related interconnection experience. - Proven problem solving and negotiation skills. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. - Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment. - Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in applying established transmission techniques, procedures or standards. - General knowledge of technical standards applicable to the project interconnection design. - Basic knowledge/experience running power flows either in PSS/E, TARA or PSLF or Power World. - Basic knowledge of Python and SQL is desired. - Requires advanced communication skills to ensure clear communication internally & externally. - Intermediate Excel skills.
