• Manages the software engineering process. • Reviews and analyzes system specifications, interfaces and requirements. • Prepares programming specifications. • Analyzes existing systems and subsystems for reusability benefits and needed changes. • Prepares design plans and written analyses, unit and test scripts, and documentation. • May lead a software development team and mentor junior software engineers. • Responsible for architecting, developing, and implementing complex software solutions that meet rigorous standards for performance, security, reliability, and compliance. • Involves working closely with cross-functional product teams, including product managers, UX designers, systems engineers, and DevSecOps personnel, to deliver high-quality solutions that support mission-critical operations. • Provides strategic technical guidance, mentors other engineers, evaluates emerging technologies, and contributes to continuous process improvements across the entire product development lifecycle.

• Design and implement scalable services for our API and routing engine tiers, following best practices for deployment, resilience, and observability • Design and improve services that power the data consumption and storage of the routing data • Drive the design, development, and testing of Mapbox tools • Shape internal tools and automations to make the whole engineering life easier and fun • Drive design and development of services quality metrics and analytics • Run and design experiments to evaluate the quality, reliability, and capacity requirements of our user-facing navigation products • Participate in end-to-end feature implementation within the larger navigation team; review code and design documents, shepherd feature releases, and participate in an on-call rotation • Work with product owners, sales engineering, and management to drive future product direction.

• Drive the technical vision and execution of advanced AI-powered solutions across multiple initiatives. • Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing systems that leverage large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and AI-driven services. • Lead technical strategy for GenAI-based products and platforms, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and business goals. • Design and implement core AI services, including model orchestration, prompt engineering frameworks, and inference pipelines. • Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to integrate LLMs and fine-tuned models into production systems. • Architect and deliver solutions for high-complexity Agile stories across multiple domains, ensuring scalability and resilience. • Mentor and guide engineers on modern AI development practices, including distributed systems, model deployment, and performance optimization. • Ensure compliance and security in AI solutions, including data privacy, responsible AI principles, and model governance. • Debug and resolve complex issues in distributed AI systems, ensuring minimal downtime and high availability. • Champion CI/CD and MLOps practices for continuous delivery of AI features and models. • Participate in hiring and talent development for the GenAI team. • Perform other related duties and activities as required.
