About the Investor Network Team The Investor Network team works with institutional investors to address climate change, nature and biodiversity loss, and water scarcity and pollution. Through a range of initiatives and working groups, the team supports investors that are members of the Ceres Investor Network in engaging with companies, regulators and policy makers to accelerate the transition to a cleaner, more just and resilient world. About the Role The Associate will support Ceres’ work with institutional investors on their stewardship priorities, and track and monitor progress of Ceres Investment Stewardship Working Group (ISWG). This team is focused on coordinating and supporting investors seeking to improve investee company practices on climate change risks, impacts, science-based emissions reduction targets, transition plans, climate-related governance, and related sustainability issues. Many of the investors are members of the Ceres Investor Network, including state treasurers, pension funds, foundations, socially responsible asset managers, and faith-based institutional investors. At Ceres, the ISWG team, and shareholder engagement work in general, is done through close partnership with Ceres Program teams. We seek a highly motivated, self-starter to play a critical programmatic and administrative support role, both internally and externally in support of Ceres’ strategy for accelerating sustainability leadership. This non-exempt role reports to the Director, Investment Stewardship and is a full-time position that can be performed remotely (within the contiguous 48 states) or from the Boston, MA office. Candidates must be flexible to work with employees in all US time zones. Primary duties may include but are not limited to the following: - Serve as core support to Ceres’ Investment Stewardship Working Group and Program teams focused on investment stewardship and shareholder proposals specifically. - Track internal activities between the Investment Stewardship Team and Ceres Program and operational teams. - Under the supervision of the Director, manage and keep current the ISWG database related to proposal tracking/status; and maintain the ISWG mailing list. - Under the supervision of the Director, respond to information requests from Investor Network members, as well as internal Relationship Managers and other stakeholders. - Support the monthly ISWG meetings by preparing the agenda in coordination with Director, collecting materials (both internal and from investors) and following up with action items, and meeting notes. - Track Ceres supported shareholder proposals in the Investor Portal and prepare reports using data from Salesforce as requested. - Help with bi-annually reporting to the Organizational Strategy, Planning, and Results team, with input from the Director and Investor Network team members, concerning progress toward goals. - Develop strong working relationships with colleagues within the Investor Network and across Ceres Program teams to support synergies to advance Investor Network and other Ceres’ priorities. - Support internal team meetings by preparing meeting agendas, taking and synthesize meeting minutes, and creating clear and compelling presentations for internal and external meetings. - Support progress reports and presentations for Investor Network, funders, public investor presentations and the Ceres Board. - Maintain and regularly update all datasets and Salesforce tracking systems for existing and new network members. - Assist in the Investor Network’s annual planning process by communicating with team members the expectations involving investors that the other teams are building into their annual plans. - Help organize or coordinate special projects, as requested. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required. - Minimum of two (2) years full-time related work experience required. - Experience in the financial services or asset management industry and an understanding of capital markets, different asset classes, and investor stewardship highly preferred. - Experience working with and analyzing large data sets. - Experience working with Salesforce or other CRM systems is a plus. - Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with word-processing, presentation, database, and email computer applications. - Excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment, sensitivity to diverse constituencies, and strong initiative and motivation. - Strong attention to detail and proactive approach to problem solving. - Successful record of working on multiple projects and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. - Interest and willingness to be trained in specific applications necessary for work: (e.g., Salesforce, Bloomberg Terminal). - Interest in being part of a diverse workforce and willingness to support Ceres’ Commitment to Inclusion and Equity. - Desire to work in a mission-driven and nonprofit environment. - Willingness to travel as needed. Compensation and Benefits The hiring salary is $50,600 – $60,150 with competitive benefits (Pay Grade 12).
