• Conduct interviews with client technical and financial personnel to gather information on qualified research activities and expenses under IRC §41. • Draft technical project documentation, ensuring audit readiness and alignment with IRS standards. • Prepare R&D tax credit calculations involving W-2 wages, supply costs, contract research, and cloud hosting. • Conduct reviews of deliverables, identifying and resolving inconsistencies, gaps, or errors before submission to Managers or Associate Directors. • Ensure formatting, terminology, and content align with firm templates and quality standards. • Maintain clear, organized workpapers and documentation in accordance with internal processes. • Maintain accurate tracking of project tasks, deliverables, and deadlines using the firm’s project management systems. • Participate in internal initiatives related to methodology improvements, technical training, and documentation standards. • Adhere to SOPs, internal style guides, and quality control procedures. • Take full responsibility for the quality and completeness of assigned tasks and reviews. • Communicate proactively with managers about risks, blockers, or inconsistencies in client data or deliverables. • Exhibit consistency, clarity, and reliability in all work, contributing to the firm’s high standard of delivery. • Ownership of meeting personal KPI metrics. • Communicate effectively with team members and clients, providing updates and addressing questions. • Supervise, train, and mentor associates and interns to enhance team performance and skill development. • Contribute to team efforts by assisting with projects and engaging in collaborative problem-solving. • Stay updated on tax laws and best practices through ongoing training and independent learning. • Manage engagements efficiently, meeting deadlines, particularly during high-demand periods. • Perform other duties and displays flexibility to take on a variety of responsibilities assigned by firm leadership. • Meet annual billable hour and other targets to fulfill individual performance and overall firm productivity.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Biology, Accounting, or related technical discipline)
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in R&D tax credit consulting
- In-depth understanding of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in tax preparation software and accounting tools
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in calculations and document reviews
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Leadership and mentoring abilities to supervise and develop junior staff
- Full-time commitment and flexibility to work beyond regular hours to meet team deadlines
