Job Description

Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer

Orbital Engineering, Inc.

• Responsible for relay protection & control engineering for high voltage substations • Prepare and assist in engineering deliverables for electric substation projects • Develop one & three-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams • Provide technical support for clients and regional business development initiatives • Participate in project conceptualization, work planning, and execution • Support pre-bid walkdowns, prepare, review, and approve proposals • Perform technical analyses of electrical substation systems • Modify existing drawing packages and complete as-built documents • Support and review electrical power calculations and specifications

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in substation design
  • 10+ years of substation engineering and QA/QC experience preferred
  • Ability to obtain or currently a registered Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering preferred
  • Physical Substation and Protection & Controls design experience preferred
  • AutoCAD experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize multiple assignments
  • Ability to collaborate in cross-functional work teams
  • Exceptional analytical and decision-making skills
  • Experience in creating and reviewing substation design drawings
  • Proficient with current computer applications including CAD systems and Microsoft applications

Role Description We are looking for instructors to teach in our Masters Electronics Engineering Technology programs. This would be an ideal position for an Electronics Engineering professional. No prior teaching experience is needed; we provide training, mentoring, and ongoing faculty support. Our terms are five weeks long and offer faculty the perfect environment in which to share their specific industry experiences to help students achieve learning outcomes. Candidates must be available evenings and weekends to support our busy adult learners. Qualifications - Doctoral degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or in a related field with 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline from a regionally accredited educational institution. - Familiarity with Multisim and Labview software; experience with Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs. - Familiarity with CAD software. - 3-5 years industry experience in an electrical and/or manufacturing engineering field required; 7+ years career industry experience preferred. - Industry experience must be within the last 5 years. - Mechatronics candidates should have a strong background in control systems, instrumentation and measurements, and mechanical systems. - Appropriate technical certification or licensure (if required). - Experience in any of the following areas: - Analog & Digital Electronics - Programmable Logic Controllers - Microcontrollers - Field Programmable Logic Arrays, FPGAs - Communication Systems - Robotics & Smart Manufacturing - Machine Learning - Computer Aided Drafting & Design - Engineering Mechanics Requirements - The highest levels of integrity at all times. - Ability to quickly build connections with students using strong interpersonal skills (including approachability and empathy). - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to work in a 5-week accelerated course environment. - Comfortable being first point of contact to troubleshoot software or technical concerns for students. - Reliable high-speed internet required. - Responsible for supplying your own windows-based computer and webcam. - Your computer system must pass the ECPI University minimum requirements test. - Required to teach one live session each week and hold one live office hour per week via Zoom.
