Our attorneys represent clients around the world in trademark-related matters, including intellectual property litigation, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office proceedings, domain name disputes, trademark policing, clearance, prosecution, portfolio management, trade dress, advertising counseling and false advertising litigation, social media and other online branding issues, and anti-counterfeiting enforcement. We have guided a wide range of extraordinary clients through dynamic shifts in technology and the world economy that have profoundly affected strategies for protecting and enforcing brands and content. We represent clients from a variety of industries, and our attorneys are well-versed in both prosecution and adversarial matters. We are seeking a full-time Trademark Attorney with at least three years of full-time equivalent experience in trademark law to join our firm. This position is an alternative to traditional partnership-track positions and features a lower billable hour requirement. Unlike traditional partnership-track positions, this position does not require business development or other significant non-billable work. Remote candidates are encouraged to apply. Attorneys local to Austin TX are welcome, but not required, to work in-office. What You’ll Do You’ll do one or more of the following, depending on experience and interests: - Manage and conduct U.S. and international trademark clearance searches and provide practical opinions to clients on risk and brand strategy. - Handle trademark prosecution matters including filing of U.S. applications, responses to office actions, and maintenance of global trademark portfolios. - Work on brand policing and enforcement, including assessment of watch notices, sending cease and desist letters, negotiating resolutions of disputes, and management of international policing through foreign associates. - Handle other matters in the trademark and copyright field, including licensing agreements, opposition/cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and - Appeal Board (TTAB), or copyright matters. Role Description The newly formed Open Government & Public Records Unit (OPR) of the WA State Attorney General's Office seeks an attorney to serve as an Assistant Attorney General supporting the Local Government PRA Consultation Program (LGCP). OPR guides and implements the AGO’s PRA practices and represents the AGO in Public Records Act (PRA) advice and litigation. The Unit is comprised of three groups: - Public Records and Constituent Services (coordinating PRA responses and information inquiries) - Local Government PRA Consultation Program (providing guidance to local governments statewide on the PRA) - The Public Records Counsel (advising and representing the AGO in PRA matters) Duties include: - Leading the LGCP providing services identified and developed by LGCP staff. - Working and supporting local government customers proactively with government transparency. - Assistance may include guidance on: - Responding to records requests - Seeking additional public and private resources for developing and updating technology information services - Mitigating liability and costs of compliance - Responding to thousands of phone calls and email inquiries from local governments on the PRA. - Training hundreds of new public records officers on PRA fundamentals. - Providing training to public records officers and agency leaders to assure knowledge and understanding of the PRA’s current expectations and requirements. - Completing work virtually utilizing remote meeting tools and traveling throughout the state for direct services. - Partnering with statewide associations in these efforts.
