Role Description The EMS Technician is responsible for the installation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of energy management systems across various commercial and industrial facilities, with a focus on refrigeration and HVAC systems. The successful candidate will ensure that EMS systems operate optimally, providing detailed monitoring and control over energy usage, and contributing to energy savings and sustainability goals. This position requires both technical expertise and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Duties and Responsibilities - EMS Installation and Commissioning: Install, configure, and commission energy management systems (EMS) and related hardware components for refrigeration, HVAC, and lighting systems. - Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair EMS hardware and software issues, ensuring minimal downtime of energy systems. - System Programming and Monitoring: Program and configure EMS to optimize energy usage based on operational needs and energy-saving goals. Ensure the systems are functioning correctly and respond to any alarms or irregularities in real time. - Preventive Maintenance: Perform regular preventive maintenance on EMS hardware and software to prevent system failures and ensure optimal performance. - Energy Usage Reporting: Monitor energy usage data, generate reports, and analyze trends. Provide insights into potential energy-saving opportunities and system performance improvements. - Client Communication and Support: Work directly with customers to understand their needs, provide technical support, and ensure EMS systems meet their energy management goals. Provide training on EMS operation when necessary. - Compliance and Safety: Ensure all work complies with company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations. Stay updated on relevant codes, regulations, and best practices in energy management and sustainability. - Collaboration with Teams: Collaborate with engineering, project management, and field service teams to ensure seamless EMS integration with other building systems, particularly HVAC and refrigeration. - Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of EMS installations, service activities, and repair logs. Provide detailed reports on system performance and maintenance activities. Qualifications - Associate's degree in electrical engineering, HVAC technology, or a related field, or 5+ years of refrigeration experience. - Minimum of 3 years of experience working with energy management systems, refrigeration, HVAC systems, or similar technologies. - Hands-on experience in EMS installation, programming, and troubleshooting. - Strong understanding of electrical systems, controls, and EMS technology. - Proficiency in using EMS software and remote monitoring tools. - Familiarity with HVAC and refrigeration systems and their energy consumption patterns. - Knowledge of energy conservation practices and sustainability principles. - EPA 608 certification or equivalent. - EMS-related certifications (e.g., Schneider Electric, Honeywell, or Siemens EMS platforms). - Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. - Strong communication skills for working with customers and team members. - Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize work effectively. - Willingness to travel to customer sites for installation, service, and maintenance work.
