Role Description Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Software Engineering Intern! Software Engineering Intern solves business needs by building quality software with guidance from senior engineering team members. - Develop secure, high quality, performant scalable code, using the required programming language and tools. - Assist in the design and development of software solutions under the guidance of senior engineers. - Participate in requirements definition, design walkthroughs, and code reviews. - Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards. - Debug and troubleshoot software issues, providing timely resolutions. - Define and perform unit testing of code. Support functional and regression testing efforts. - Work closely with senior engineers to enhance your technical skills and understanding of software development methodologies. Qualifications - Currently enrolled full-time and pursuing a Bachelor's or master’s in computer science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience required. - Programming experience with C#. Experience with other object-oriented languages like Java or Python. - In-depth knowledge of architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling). - Experience with Database technologies. - Hands-on experience building systems in one or more cloud providers – AWS, Azure, GCP. - Knowledge of developer tooling across the SDLC (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations). - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. - Developing analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions. Requirements - Employer work visa sponsorship and support are not provided for this role. - Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at hire and must maintain authorization to work in the United States throughout their employment with our company. Job Requirements
