Role Description As we expand into third-party management and continue scaling nationally, we are seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the accounting operations for our existing manufactured housing portfolio and will be the right hand to our Director of Finance. - Lead and manage the accounting team, including managers and staff accountants, providing coaching, performance management, and professional development - Oversee the accounting and financial reporting for the company’s manufactured housing portfolio, ensuring accuracy and timeliness - Manage the monthly close process, including maintaining the close calendar and reviewing key accounting entries such as accruals, amortization, and reserves - Review balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports for each property and identify any unusual variances - Oversee all company and property bank accounts, including transfers, wires, reconciliations, and bank portal administration - Monitor weekly cash position reports and coordinate funding needs across the portfolio - Manage and track lines of credit and property-level debt, including loan recording, reconciliations, and payoff coordination - Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistent financial treatment across the organization - Oversee sales tax reporting and compliance, coordinating with external accounting partners as needed - Manage the annual tax return process, ensuring financials are delivered to the CPA firm and discrepancies are resolved - Provide accounting support during property acquisitions and dispositions, including closing entries and financial due diligence - Oversee the Accounts Payable team, ensuring strong payment controls, accurate expense coding, and timely vendor payments - Monitor adherence to company credit card policies and assist with vendor or payment troubleshooting when needed Qualifications - Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required - Strong leadership experience managing accounting teams and driving team performance - Extremely organized with a high level of attention to detail when managing financial reporting and banking operations - Ability to take ownership of complex financial processes and drive deadlines without constant oversight - Strong understanding of technical accounting, financial reporting, and ERP/GL systems - Comfortable analyzing financial statements and communicating insights to leadership teams - Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple departments including operations, asset management, and leadership - Experience in property accounting or real estate accounting is highly preferred - A positive leader who enjoys mentoring team members and building a strong accounting culture Benefits - Salary Range: $85,000 – $105,000 depending on experience - Paid Time Off (PTO): 4 weeks in your first year - Company-Paid Holidays: 15 per year - Insurance: Medical, Dental, and Vision (with company-shared coverage) - 401(k) Retirement Plan with company match - Remote, US Company Description At Open Management, we own and operate manufactured housing communities across the United States with a mission to redefine property management and improve affordable housing.
