Senior Software Engineer, Conversion
Upstart
• Lead end-to-end delivery of critical, user-facing features that improve loan application and rate check experiences—directly driving improvements in conversion and funding form submission metrics. • Rapidly iterate on the new unified rate page by expanding product coverage, launching new features, and improving performance and usability. • Contribute to the backend consolidation of pricing logic into a unified system, improving maintainability, consistency, and speed of experimentation across products. • Help define and build the next-generation, platformized funding form that supports multiple products, contributing to architectural direction and long-term scalability. • Strengthen engineering excellence by improving system performance, reliability, and on-call health for the features you build and own.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics, or a related field (or its equivalent) + 4 years of experience
- Experience delivering end-to-end features across frontend and backend systems, including APIs and microservices.
- Strong frontend development experience building customer-facing web applications with a focus on performance, usability, and experimentation.
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of multi-month initiatives, from technical design through launch and iteration.
- Experience working in cross-functional environments with Product, Design, and other engineering teams.
- Experience improving conversion funnels or other high-scale, metrics-driven user journeys through experimentation (e.g., A/B testing, personalization).
- Background in consolidating or platformizing systems (e.g., unifying pricing logic or shared frontend architectures across multiple products).
- Experience operating in a microservices-based architecture and contributing to architectural direction.
- Track record of improving engineering processes, mentoring teammates, and raising the bar on technical excellence.
- Experience in fintech or other highly regulated, high-availability environments.
