This is a remote position where travel is required between both Suffolk and Nassau County. Additional information can be found at https://www.jabholco.com/ Opportunity Prosperity is seeking a highly motivated Tax Manager to oversee Tax Department Staff, day-to-day operations, and to continue to grow through regular interaction with the AVP of Tax and Head of Tax. The successful candidate must demonstrate critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced, growing environment. Major Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. - Reviewing all quarterly and annual GAAP and STAT federal income tax provisions prepared by staff and coordinating deliverables with external service providers. - Reviewing and approving all state/local monthly tax journal entries for premium taxes, withholding taxes, estimated taxes, and other tax payments; includes intercompany tax sharing. - Ensuring financial reporting accuracy and monitoring close calendar, integrity of general ledger, annual tax elections, and analyzing results by reviewing reconciliations prepared by staff. - Coordinating with staff and external service providers on the review of all federal and state income/franchise tax returns and installment tax calculations and ensuring timely remittance of all required tax filings and tax payments. - Reviewing premium tax returns and remittance of premium tax installment payments prepared by the staff. - Reviewing all federal and state policyholder withholding tax returns and the calculation and remittance of installment payments prepared by the staff. - Reviewing business tax or occupational license tax requirements with all municipal jurisdictions; ensuring compliance with state licensure requirements and ensure all applicable fees are remitted timely by the Staff. - Maintaining the tax calendar to ensure compliance with the Company’s tax compliance and reporting filing and payment obligations. - Conducting research on new tax laws, regulations, or technical tax concepts, and collaborating with other tax department members to prepare technical memorandums and present potential impacts and strategic opportunities for the Company. - Coordinating and assisting FP&A Team with forecasted tax data and reviewing variances to plan. - Providing guidance and support to junior staff and assisting in their professional development. - Teaching internal trainings on a periodic basis related to federal income taxes. - Assessing new investment opportunities with regard to tax implications and evaluating how they align with the Company’s operational and investment guidelines. - Assisting the AVP, Tax and Head of Tax with special projects, as applicable. A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field is required; a master’s degree in accounting (MSA) or taxation (MST) is preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of 5-8 years of experience in tax accounting or related field. Public accounting experience and CPA license preferred. Experience with Oracle, FCCS, and Clearwater technology solutions is a plus. Effective communication and relationship building skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective collaboration with internal and external business partners. The Candidate must demonstrate strong leadership, critical thinking, research, and analytical skills, along with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities successfully. The role requires the capacity to explain complex technical concepts clearly and succinctly. High proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications is necessary.
