Your Impact You'll be a key hands-on contributor to a high-profile project with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) that impacts millions of people. We're working to transform a manual data process into an automated solution, and you will be at the heart of that technical work. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will write queries and implement the business logic that drives this new system. Your work will directly ensure that accurate, timely data reaches state governments, strengthening the integrity of the nation's Medicaid program. Our Culture For People is a team of humans. Our entire team is remote across the United States, from the West Coast to the East Coast. There will never be a return-to-office, as we have none! This position's published base salary range is between $120,000 and $140,000 annually, plus generous benefits (e.g., For People pays 100% of Gold-tier employee health insurance premiums) and annual company profit sharing. Your Opportunities At For People, you will: - Design, write, and optimize complex SQL queries to extract and manipulate information from government Medicaid datasets like T-MSIS. - Translate intricate policy requirements and business rules into accurate, efficient, and testable data transformations. - Develop and implement data quality checks to ensure the integrity and accuracy of sensitive enrollee data containing PHI. - Collaborate closely with data engineers to build, test, and deploy a new automated data pipeline within a cloud-based data lakehouse platform. - Work with business analysts and government stakeholders to understand, refine, and document data requirements for the project. - Develop reporting mechanisms that provide insights back to the client. You Bring - 6+ years of hands-on experience as a data scientist, with a proven track record of delivering complex data projects. - Expert-level proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating large, complex datasets. - Strong programming skills in Python for data analysis, scripting, and automation. - Experience working with data pipelines and ETL processes in a modern cloud environment. - A deep curiosity and passion for untangling complex problems and a drive to see your work create a positive social impact. Prior exposure to healthcare, CMS, or state Medicaid data is a bonus.Additional Details You will be working on a United States government platform, and they have a few basic requirements for contractors like ourselves. You must perform all work physically within the United States at all times. In addition, you must be a United States citizen and be able to pass a government-performed public trust background check.
