Full Stack Developer – Agentic AI and Data Engineer

About the Role Culmen is hiring a Senior Full Stack Developer a high-impact Agentic AI Prototype program with the Chief Digital and AI Office (CDAO). You’ll work under the Senior Technical Lead to design, build, and demonstrate secure, production-ready agentic AI capabilities in DoD-designated cloud environments. You’ll contribute across the stack, from robust system prompts and agent logic to secure API integrations and live data connectors delivering working prototypes that meet Gov milestone acceptance. Primary work will be remote but within Government-designated secure cloud environments; occasional onsite meetings in the National Capital Region may be required. Limited travel to Contractor site in Northern Virginia as needed. What You’ll Do in Your New Role Build agentic AI capabilities end-to-end: - Implement agent logic with LangChain/LangGraph (tool use, function calling, state management, logical branching) - Develop robust system prompts, prompt libraries, and agent personas aligned to mission workflows - Integrate commercial model SDKs (Gemini Enterprise, Anthropic for Gov, Grok Enterprise) and cloud inference services (Vertex AI, Bedrock) - Build a metadata catalog/platform (MCP) that indexes sources, exposes search and serving APIs, and integrates with agent workflows - Implement data quality, profiling, lineage, and access controls; optimize for discovery and retrieval efficiency Cloud and data integration: - Implement secure API access and data ingestion pipelines for structured and unstructured sources in IL5 cloud environments - Build live data connectors and operational pipelines exercised by agents during demos - Software engineering and DevSecOps: - Write high-quality, testable code (Python and TypeScript/JavaScript preferred), build services and microservices, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines - Implement automated tests, logging/observability, and security controls aligned to DoD SRG IL5, FedRAMP High, and RMF principle Agile delivery: - Execute sprint plans, participate in agile ceremonies, and deliver incremental capabilities that meet acceptance criteria - Prepare demo artifacts and conduct live demonstrations for Government Product Owner and stakeholders Documentation and transition: - Contribute to technical documentation, code repositories, prompt libraries, and maintenance procedures for ATO-ready posture and follow-on production Required Qualifications - 7+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years building production-grade full stack AI systems - Hands-on experience developing agentic AI solutions using frameworks like LangChain/LangGraph, including advanced prompt engineering - Proficiency in Python and TypeScript/JavaScript; experience with REST/gRPC, OpenAPI, microservices, and event-driven patterns - Experience integrating cloud model services (Vertex AI, Bedrock) and enterprise AI SDKs (Gemini Enterprise, Anthropic for Gov) - Strong cloud experience (Azure or Google Cloud); familiarity with containers/Kubernetes, identity and access control, secrets management - Data engineering experience: secure API integrations, ETL/ELT pipelines, working with both structured and unstructured data - Practical DevSecOps: CI/CD, automated testing, observability, SBOM/signing, secure software supply chain Desired Qualifications - Experience in IL5/IL6 or other regulated environments; familiarity with RMF/ATO processe - Experience with RAG pipelines, embeddings, and vector databases (pgvector, Pinecone, Weaviate) - Knowledge of metadata catalog systems (DataHub/OpenMetadata) or custom indexing/search services - Prior work with DoD or IC stakeholders and mission-centric AI workflows - Experience delivering outcome-based milestones in Agile programs Role success metrics: - Demonstrated mission utility, reliability, and security compliance of agent capabilities - Code quality, test coverage, and operational stability in secure cloud environments - Effective collaboration with Technical Lead, teammates, and non-traditional subcontractor teams About the Company Culmen International is committed to enhancing international safety and security, strengthening homeland defense, advancing humanitarian missions, and optimizing government operations.
