Position Overview The Database Administrator will build, support, administer, and sustain a clustered-server database platform hosted in an enterprise IT environment. In this role, the Database Administrator will provide technical support for incident response, service degradations, outages, and other service interruptions. In addition, the Database Administrator will investigate hardware and software problems related to the database-hosting infrastructure and perform corrective actions. Major Activities - Architect, design, engineer, and document database servers and associated infrastructure in clustered, stand-alone, and/or appliance-hosted configurations, which fulfill mission requirements, service specifications, and cyber security mandates - Perform all Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) hardening and configurations for all STIGs that apply to the system hosting the Database. Lead STIG assessments to ensure the system is hardened to the required level. - Sustain fleet of physical and virtual database-hosting servers running a mix of operating systems (Open Systems and Windows Systems) in multiple network environments - Build, configure, and sustain database server clusters - Perform daily operations, onsite support, and on-call support for all aspects of database architecture, database platforms, and database management software - Perform optimization and performance testing, working with both physical and virtual servers and/or appliances, and provides expert-level troubleshooting and technical support for all incidents and issues - Work with original equipment manufacturers and/or third-party vendors to resolve performance degradations and outages - Plan, execute, and document server specification changes - Support and participate in projects relating to the move of systems and services to modernized hosting environments and Cloud capabilities; provide expert advice on configuring database systems to meet the environment and boundary requirements, and customize services to meet new performance goals - Perform other tasks as required by BME and the Government contracting office Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Ability to translate customer requirements into database structure - Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Familiarity with using front-end scripting languages, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery to customize solution front-end is a plus Required Qualifications - Must have CompTIA Security+ CE - Must have a minimum of 3 or more years of experience with designing, building, and managing databases - Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience with SharePoint site management, site content management, permissions management, and workflow design and implementation - Experience building and maintaining Content Management Platforms - Experience with creating and formulating workflows - Must have and maintain Secret Security clearance or higher Preferred Qualifications - Oracle or SQL Server certification E-Verify: OSC EdgeTech participates in E-Verify.
