Role Description The essential function of the position within the organization is to assist the judiciary with case management, pending litigation, processing of criminal and civil appeals, and a variety of issues. The assigned work involves considerable interpretation and judgment of legal issues in the area(s) of criminal, civil, appellate, and/or administrative law. - Responsible for drafting memoranda, opinions, orders, and conducting legal research - Review briefs and case files - Advise judges on pending litigation This position works under the supervision of the Supervising Trial Court Staff Attorney. Role Description Hunt Hunt & Winterbottom LLP is seeking a California litigation associate with 3 to 5 years of experience to join its team. This is a rare opportunity to step into a high-responsibility role working directly alongside our named partners. Responsibilities will include: - Assist with the complete lifecycle of litigation matters from intake to appeal. - Conduct thorough legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, appellate documents, settlement agreements, and demand letters. - Take and defend depositions, and prepare clients for same. - Assist with trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and strategy development. - Communicate with clients, to provide timely updates and clearly explain legal strategies and potential outcomes. - Collaborate with firm attorneys and legal staff to optimize firm systems to maximize efficiency and further the objectives of the firm. - Stay current on relevant legal developments to provide informed, forward-looking legal advice.
