QA Automation Engineer

• Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive automated test suites • Create and execute test cases for new development stories and application enhancements • Validate fixes for production and internally identified defects • Test applications undergoing modernization from legacy technologies to modern platforms • Support quality assurance activities related to infrastructure upgrades and Azure Cloud migration initiatives • Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing • Participate in story grooming sessions and help define acceptance criteria • Collaborate with developers, product owners, and stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle • Document and track defects through resolution
Job Requirements
- Experience building and maintaining automated testing frameworks
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and QA best practices
- Experience testing Java/J2EE web and enterprise applications
- Experience with functional, integration, regression, and API testing
- Familiarity with Oracle and MySQL databases
- Experience working in Linux environments
- Knowledge of Maven and GitLab
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Preferred: Experience testing applications running on IBM WebSphere
- Preferred: Familiarity with XML, XSLT, and enterprise integration technologies
- Preferred: Exposure to Azure Cloud migration or cloud testing initiatives
- Preferred: Experience with Spring Boot and Angular applications

GM’s inhouse brake software & controls development is also referred to as IBAC. • Design, implement, and maintain robust automated test suites using Playwright with TypeScript for end-to-end, functional, and regression testing. • Define and own test strategies, test plans, and automation coverage frameworks for assigned programs and workstreams. • Execute and oversee manual testing for complex scenarios that require human judgment beyond automation coverage. • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring quality gates are enforced throughout the delivery lifecycle. • Write Python scripts to support automation tooling, data setup, and test utility tasks as needed. • Lead code reviews for automation scripts and enforce quality engineering standards within the team. • Mentor junior QA engineers, guiding automation patterns, test design, and debugging techniques. • Collaborate with developers and architects to identify testability improvements and shift-left quality initiatives. • Proactively identify quality risks, communicate blockers, and drive resolution with urgency. • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, backlog refinement).
