• Design and develop scalable backend services using Java and modern frameworks within a cloud-based environment. • Build and maintain APIs and microservices supporting enterprise notification and communication workflows. • Collaborate with frontend engineers, designers, and product teams to deliver accessible, user-focused solutions. • Improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability across distributed services. • Support secure software delivery practices aligned with VA DevSecOps and federal compliance standards. • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and Agile ceremonies. • Contribute to modernization efforts, including refactoring legacy components and improving service architecture.

• Collaborate with data analysts to spec and build features that draw new customers to our product. • Provide a backend to our mobile and web frontends, to do things like search transactions or send wire transfers. • Build admin tools to increase the efficiency of day-to-day support operations, like identifying fraudulent customers or managing accounts. • Integrate with third-party APIs, to do things like send checks or validate SWIFT codes.

• Design, develop, and maintain Java (Spring Boot) microservices and RESTful APIs on a cloud-native, serverless AWS architecture (ECS, RDS, S3, SNS/SQS, Lambda) • Develop and optimize database solutions using PostgreSQL and implement search capabilities using Elasticsearch/OpenSearch • Contribute to shared platform services including identity/access management, payment processing, event-based messaging, and integrations with external systems • Write clean, well-tested code with comprehensive unit tests, participate in peer code reviews, and ensure all code passes SonarQube quality gates • Ensure accessibility, security, and performance standards are baked into all delivered code, meeting WCAG 2.1 AA and federal security requirements • Collaborate with DevOps teams to maintain and improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines and keep the pipelines green across all environments • Express infrastructure as code using Terraform and support containerized deployments using Docker and AWS ECS • Participate fully in SAFe Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, PI Planning, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and Product Demos within cross-functional Scrum teams • Collaborate with Solutions Architects, Cloud Architects, frontend developers, testers, UX designers, and federal stakeholders to ensure alignment with architectural patterns and program priorities • Support production operations, triage and resolve issues, and maintain technical documentation including architecture documents, API specifications, and runbooks
