Position Summary Williamsburg Learning is hiring one full-time Middle School Instructional Specialist and one full-time High School Instructional Specialist to support mentors in strengthening classroom instruction and improving student achievement through collaboration, coaching, and professional development. These roles will work closely with educators to analyze data, implement effective instructional strategies, and integrate curriculum standards and technology into daily instruction. The instructional specialists will model best practices, provide meaningful mentor feedback, and support mentors in creating engaging learning environments that meet the diverse needs of students. In addition to their coaching responsibilities, each specialist will teach one section of a middle school or high school course. The overall goal of these positions is to build mentor capacity and promote continuous instructional improvement across Williamsburg Learning. ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1. Support Mentors Through Strategic Coaching Cycles - Support new and seasoned mentors through structured Coaching Cycles aligned to the WL Cycles framework. - Track new mentor onboarding progress through the 4 to 6-week structured sequence, maintaining documentation of milestones, goals, and data checkpoints. - Work with mentors who need additional support — new and experienced — to identify areas for growth, set instructional goals, and provide targeted coaching through completion. - Conduct regular class observations using the WL Student Success Rubric as the observational lens; provide structured pre- and post-observation coaching conversations. - Maintain accurate coaching logs and progress documentation for each assigned mentor cohort. 2. Identify and Support the Use of Innovative, Research-Driven Instructional Strategies - Stay current on effective teaching methods, technologies, and learning science (Bjork, Hattie, Yeager); translate research into actionable coaching for mentors. - Coach mentors in strategies that increase student talk time with a particular focus on Socratic questioning, discussion facilitation, and the Genuine Question framework. - Introduce and support the integration of AI tools that strengthen — rather than replace — mentor instructional judgment. - Model instructional best practices in live sessions, co-teaching opportunities, and PD facilitation. - Support the implementation and ongoing use of the Socratic Method across assigned mentor cohorts. 3. Design and Facilitate Meaningful Professional Development - Design and present targeted professional development sessions for the Friday PD block, grounded in current inquiry cycle data, Zoom analytics, and mentor needs. - Build PD session agendas, materials, and artifacts that produce measurable change - Facilitate WL Cycle Kickoff Fridays and Implementation Fridays (evidence share, mid-cycle adjustments, co-planning) for assigned mentor cohorts. - Collaborate with the Director of Instruction & Assessment to align PD design with the Student Success Rubric and the Six Mentor Practices framework. 4. Work alongside educators to utilize available assessments and strengthen mentors’ assessment literacy. - Act as a thought partner to mentors in identifying student success indicators, designing evidence of learning, and analyzing Zoom talk-time data to drive instructional decisions. - Work with mentors to develop better assessments, interpret student performance data, and adjust teaching practice accordingly — based on evidence, not intuition. 5. Support IEP/504/MTSS Accommodation Implementation and Mentor Readiness - Generate and maintain per-student accommodation summaries (IEP, 504, ELL, MTSS) for assigned mentor cohort; ensure mentors are briefed before each session. - Ensure pre-class scaffolds are deployed for students with support plans. - Monitor whether accommodation plans are being implemented with fidelity; flag concerns to the Director of Instruction & Assessment. - Stay current on special education compliance requirements for assigned grade span (MS or HS) and maintain documentation in accordance with WL policy. Role Description The Curriculum Content Architect (CCA) leads the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of curriculum programs across multiple school partnerships. This role ensures all courses, instructional materials, and academic pathways align with state standards, graduation requirements, and best practices in instructional design and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The CCA also oversees quality assurance processes, operational course setup, and the management of curriculum documentation and compliance initiatives. Approve time cards for staff in your program. - Hold Accountable - Ensure that mentors within your program are prepared each week with their ‘Scorecard Numbers’ for grading turnaround and other important indicators, and that they are observed regularly to encourage improvement. Assist with minor discipline issues within the program as needed (plagiarism, etc.). Hold program assistants accountable for their performance. 2) Program Administration and Optimization - Assist with hiring within your program. Optimize your team by capitalizing on the unique talents of each team member, motivating team members to do their best work, and focusing on results. Adjust roles, responsibilities, and procedures to improve student outcomes. - Assist with registration in your program. Ensure your program's reading, project, and assignment are optimized to engage, challenge, and inspire students. - Honor the big picture. Know the role your program plays in the overall student experience. Only say “yes” to changes that clearly justify themselves. Get clearance for significant changes. - Implement new changes down to the last detail. Dot your i’s and cross your t’s. - Ensure that all mentors in your program promptly upload their slides and course documents to the appropriate shared folders on WL’s Google Drive. - Ensure mentors track changes to the curriculum (both proposed changes and corrections) in the syllabus and update the master course. - Ensure that all curriculum documents and Canvas courses within your program are error-free and up to date. - Ensure that standard-alignment documents are updated if any changes are made. - Oversee extensive course revisions as approved by the Director of Curriculum. - Propose new courses within your program. 5) Embody WL Core Values - Demonstrate company values with students, parents, and team members: Make a concerted effort to grow professionally and personally, both inside and outside the Williamsburg community. Position Summary Note: This position is a dual role in which you would work from approximately April through August as an Enrollment Advisor, and from September through March as an MTSS Specialist. See below for a full description of both. The Enrollment Advisor is a vital member of the Admissions Department and the first point of contact for prospective families at the Williamsburg Family of Schools. Successful Enrollment Advisors use a unique set of sales, communication, writing, and organizational skills to help families determine if our program is the right fit and start the school year on a high note. The MTSS Specialist plays a crucial role within the Academics Department, providing extra layers of support to students in the Williamsburg program. A successful MTSS Specialist uses strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills to collaborate closely with families and mentors and build tailored plans to help students succeed. Essential Duties As an Enrollment Advisor: - Conduct Enrollment Consultations with prospective parents, explain the benefits of our program, answer questions, and guide parents through our enrollment options. - Assist parents with course selection, provide essential onboarding resources, and address pre-semester questions to help new students have a strong start. - Keep track of parent information and interactions in HubSpot, set and complete follow-up tasks, and report on performance metrics. - Stay informed about the Williamsburg curriculum, policies, and other updates to provide accurate, insightful guidance to families. - Document new information and procedures in our team knowledge base, helping your teammates stay up-to-date. - Share feedback from parents, collaborate with colleagues, and recommend process improvements to continually refine the enrollment process. - Stay flexible and ready to adapt to evolving needs and priorities. As an MTSS Specialist: - Support students who need extra help by creating personalized intervention plans through collaboration with families, mentors, and colleagues. - Track and keep parents and mentors updated on student progress and share insights when a student may need additional services. - Run student support labs by inviting at-risk students, keeping track of attendance and assignments, and offering tips to help them stay on track. - Help mentors put effective classroom support strategies in place and attend training to stay up-to-date on implementation tips. - Coach students through academic challenges by assisting with assignments, providing tutoring in specific subjects, and teaching time management and study skills. - Join team meetings to report on and discuss student progress, share ideas, and set professional growth goals. - Continually research and suggest new ways to better support students. Minimum Qualifications - Two years of work experience in a conversational sales setting, and/or - Two years experience in a school setting where you directly engaged with parents and students (i.e. admissions, tutoring, teaching, as a TA, or similar) - Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills - Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule, and willingness to alternate between different types of work throughout the year Preferred Qualifications - Associate’s degree or higher - Proficiency in HubSpot or similar CRM; HubSpot certifications are ideal - Ability to collaborate with a team to build toward a shared vision - Ability to empathize with and meet the needs of diverse students and families - Quick learner with various technology systems and processes Required Equipment (You Provide) - A computer with webcam (no older than two years) - Headset or headphones with echo-canceling mic - High-speed internet service – the faster the better (we recommend 5 Mbps or more) Compensation & Schedule - Compensation: $58,656 annual salary - Start date: ASAP - Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday Benefits After meeting the eligibility requirements, benefits are available, including Health, 401(k) Retirement, Paid Holidays, and Paid Time Off.
