Role Description The Area Sales Manager position is responsible for managing the sales performance of the area that demonstrates Engineering Kompetenz in the marketplace. This position will drive team and individual performance by setting targets and objectives developed from Engineering Kompetenz Profiles. This position will manage the talent of the area through use of the Engineering Kompetenz Profiles to attract, retain, and develop individuals. Finally, this position is responsible for financial planning, target setting, and stakeholder management to ensure company strategy is achieved. Main Responsibilities - Sales Figures: Manages sales in the area by planning and monitoring sales through analysis of sales market data to execute plans and facilitate sales growth to reach area sales targets. - Support FSEs: Support direct report Field Sales Engineers by making joint customer visits and facilitating negotiations with strategic customers. - Customer Portfolio: Manages the portfolio of customers by assigning activities and responsibilities related to sales channels, geographic territories, and industry focus. Maintains greater focus with strategic customers. - Performance Management: Drive performance of FSEs with focus on Engineering Kompetenz in their sales activities to achieve sales targets. - Performance Development: Develop FSE knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that demonstrate Engineering Kompetenz in the marketplace through coaching, dialogues using constructive feedback, and acting as a role model for Engineering Kompetenz. - Strategic Initiatives: Support strategic initiatives by cascading down to the FSEs important information to set local initiatives. - Prices: Within limits approved by the Managing Director, make decisions on discounts and net prices in conjunction with the FSEs. Make proposals for higher limits that support strategic business growth. - Projects: Sponsor and coordinate with other internal stakeholders on large projects that cross functional boundaries. - Local Events: Supports FSEs with planning and organizing local events in coordination with local marketing function; represent the company and make presentations as needed; and evaluate the results of the local events. - Recruitment: Recruit the appropriate FSE talent for the area utilizing the Engineering Kompetenz Profiles; develop and maintain a professional network to source talent. Qualifications - Several years of proven, effective experience marketing and selling industrial cutting tools. - Demonstrated well-developed computer skills to complete data analysis and prepare professional presentations. - Proven experience working independently from a home or virtual office environment as an independent, self-directed, results-oriented sales professional traveling a significant amount of time. - Advanced proficiency in English. - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
