The Lab is home to MI-CARES (cancer & the environment study), SOCIAL (ovarian cancer cohort study), YO MI-CARES (young onset cancer & the environment study), and ARROWS (ovarian cancer prevention). The Research Lab is looking for a project coordinator to join our core team to help achieve our goal of preventing cancer and improving cancer survivorship. This is a term-limited appointment that will end one year from appointment start date, with the potential for an extension depending on performance and available funding. Responsibilities* - Calendar and Email Management: Provide calendar and time management support to leadership you are assigned to. Prioritize and respond to calendar requests and plan accordingly. As requested, for leadership, schedule meetings, manage calendar invitations, find and reserve meeting rooms, prepare meeting rooms, and arrange for equipment and other meeting needs as necessary. Act as liaison in zoom and other virtual platforms. Submit reimbursement requests. - Proposal and Manuscript Assistance: Assist with compiling documents for funding proposals, including updating NIH biosketches/other support documents as well as obtaining the same updated documents for other investigators on proposals; Assist with maintaining and updating faculty curriculum vitae, other support and biosketches. Submit and track manuscripts, prepare manuscript title pages and references. - Study Organization: Triage study emails including responding to or forwarding messages as appropriate. Process participant incentives. Mail documents to study participants or potential study participants. Organize presentations. Organize webinars and newsletters including sending out announcements. Put together biospecimen kits and other mailings. Approve timesheets for research team on behalf of PIs. - Teaching assistance: Photocopying, organizing canvas course sites, communicating with students, scheduling guest lectures. - Other related tasks as needed at the discretion of the Principal Investigators. Required Qualifications* - Bachelor's degree and one year of secretarial and/or administrative experience, or equivalent combination of experience and education. - Proven ability to prioritize, have exceptional organizational skills, meet deadlines and produce detailed and accurate work. - Demonstrated ability to work successfully within a team and also independently and exercise good judgment. - Excellent computer skills (especially in MS Word, Power Point, Excel, Google and calendaring platforms) - Excellent oral and written communication skills, and proofreading skills Desired Qualifications* - Three years of secretarial and/or administrative experience. The Ancient Protein Laboratory is a state of the art facility with separate areas for sampling and extraction of proteins. Our facility has the potential to extract proteins from a wide variety of archaeological samples including dental calculus, bone, enamel, as well as residues from ceramics and tools. The Isotope Laboratory is a dedicated space for the analysis of archaeological materials, including enamel, bone, dentin, and plants. This state of the art facility includes areas for collagen extraction, the preparation of organic samples, and a separate drilling room for sub-sampling of archaeological materials. We also have a dedicated location for the extraction of proteins and preparation of sample plates for ZooMS. Responsibilities* The Ancient Protein and Isotope Research Laboratory Specialist primarily oversees the operation and safety of the laboratory. This includes ensuring compliance with safety regulations, providing training, and supervision to students and colleagues. They also manage equipment maintenance, quality control, and may be involved in research project oversight. The lab supervisor should also ensure the availability of reagents and consumables necessary for standard operating procedures. 50% Personnel Supervision and Management: Provides appropriate supervision of students or colleagues, considering their experience and competence. Oversees and evaluates the performance of undergraduate and graduate students or colleagues performing laboratory testing. Oversees the scheduling for open lab hours. Manages scheduling of students or colleagues to ensure adequate materials are available to complete the necessary protocol. The mode of work for this position is Hybrid with a minimum of 4 days in the office per week, Monday through Thursday, with an option of remote work on Fridays. On occasion, you may be required and must be available to work onsite on Fridays if necessitated by our center's policy and domain leadership or by your job requirements. The salary for this position will be based upon the selected candidate's education and experience. Candidates can expect to be paid a competitive and equitable salary. Factors used to determine salary include education level, experience, knowledge and skills for the position and salaries that are currently established within the unit. All candidates are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor alignment and transparency throughout the recruiting process.
