Title: executive operations Location: NYC Department: OPS Job Description: turbopuffer is looking for an executive assistant to support our CTO and handle ops in our NYC hub. We're scaling fast and need someone who can take the operational load off his plate. We are looking for someone based in NYC to work hybrid in our office downtown with occasional travel to Ottawa and SF. what you'll do: - run point on the CTO's calendar, travel, and inbox - manage a high volume schedule across time zones and competing priorities - plan travel end-to-end: flights, hotels, ground, and itineraries - triage his inbox so nothing important slips by - partner with the CEO's EA on cross company work - evolve new hire onboarding process - plan events like customer dinners and company offsites - manage ops for the NYC office must have: - coordination - you've worked as an EA, chief of staff, or in a similar operations role - you've managed calendars, inboxes, and travel for senior people at high volume - you can juggle multiple senior stakeholders and competing priorities without dropping the ball - judgment: you catch the things others miss - operator: you see the gap and fill it, no task is too small - typist: you write well and can represent the CTO clearly in any thread - human: you build trust quickly nice to have: - prior experience supporting a technical founder or engineering leader - experience at an early stage startup tpuf is hardcore & whimsical. we value: - overstep > understep - show > tell - complexity is earned - showing up as part of our customer’s team - making stuff easy to react to
• own design across our most important surfaces: product, web, blog, IRL, campaigns, etc. • partner with GTM and growth to make sure every customer, candidate, and community-facing surface meets the turbopuffer craft bar • evolve our visual identity without sanding off what makes it turbopuffer
• plan our calendar far in advance. pick the events worth showing up to and kill the ones that aren't • run the event logistics end-to-end: budget, booth, meeting rooms, swag, staffing, follow-up • plan and host meetups/dinners; handle logistics for both external and internal puffers • build a set of quantitative and qualitative goals for our events • work with designers on booths, swag, and other items • collaborate closely with our existing close-knit growth team
• design and implement end-to-end improvements to our overall developer experience from the UX (dashboard, docs, site, SDKs) to our core database. • help customers understand, monitor, and optimize their tpuf workloads. • write crisp docs
• design and implement improvements across one or more layers of our search engine (storage, indexing, querying) • intensive performance hacking: tracing, CPU/heap profiling, optimizing data structures, using SIMD, tuning IO pipelines, etc. • evolve our search primitives and APIs (full text + vector + reranking) • work closely with customers to win their workloads and fold learnings back into the product • write crisp docs
• find engineers and teams who are building with vectors or hitting limits with their current search • write outreach that developers actually want to read • qualify inbound leads and route them to the right people • research accounts deeply before reaching out—understand their stack • book meetings that don't waste anyone's time • track what's working and kill what isn't • live in communities where our customers hang out • design, execute, and analyze new outbound experiments to expand funnel
