• Work as a one-person band to record the episode using Riverside or Streamyard (livestream specials) • Collaborate with the hosts on all elements of show creative, spanning full episodes as well as social content • Run point on the show’s entire production process from big picture / long-lead planning to rundown creation, and from running recordings to executing on final episode delivery • Manage scheduling, coordination, and logistics to ensure smooth execution of all aspects of show production • Edit episode video and mix audio to produce high-quality content, and publish episodes to our distribution platforms, utilizing the tools available to amplify reach on platforms like YouTube • Ensure consistency in style and sound quality across all segments • Generate and integrate graphics in post • Conduct thorough research to identify compelling topics and trends relevant to our audience, and key stats for our on-air talent • Help to develop innovative segments, series and formats that add value and drive listener engagement • Identify social clips from full episodes for distribution on YouTube and other social channels • Edit social clips • Work closely with the show’s hosts/producers to develop social first content • Manage community building through Discord, YouTube, and other social channels • Coordinate with hosts, guests, and team members to gather content and feedback • Manage deadlines and provide regular updates on production progress
• Secure and help manage long-term, revenue-driving partnerships for The Athletic. • Help grow The Athletic’s league partnerships portfolio and be accountable for the success of these deals. • Work closely with the Head of Global Business Development on setting and executing the strategy for growing the business. • Be the primary liaison between The Athletic and The New York Times sales teams and our portfolio of strategic partners where there is sales overlap and opportunity. • Think creatively and strategically to find new ways to grow The Athletic’s commercial business. • Work efficiently with cross-functional teams including legal, finance, product, editorial, design and marketing to ensure operational excellence on a daily basis. • Partner closely with the Partner Management team to ensure partnerships are operating effectively and are optimized for success. • Create and manage project plans for various partnership executions.
• You will be responsible for hiring additional engineers to fill out the team, with a focus on diversity and inclusion, and staffing and structuring your team to meet business needs. • Manage your team and help them to deliver high-quality software in a fast-paced, agile, high-growth environment. • Make technology, infrastructure, architectural, and hiring decisions to meet anticipated demands and scale. • Evaluate trade-offs and effectively prioritize tasks within each team in alignment with strategic initiatives and company goals. • Collaborate closely with product, design, editorial, data science, and marketing teams to define strategy and execute on roadmaps. • Brainstorm new product ideas and improvements alongside the design and product teams while also delivering clean, performant code (this role has an expectation of staying close to the codebase). • Hold regular 1:1s, evaluate performance, and provide consistent productive feedback. • Help engineers learn the skills needed to advance in their career. • Work with engineers and product managers to iterate on and improve team processes and efficiency. • Contribute to important company-wide initiatives like diversity and inclusion, technical brand, and hiring process.
• Support the Manager, People Partnerships for a designated employee population; act as a day-to-day point of contact for employee questions and manager needs, escalating as appropriate. • Advocate on behalf of employees to help ensure they have the tools, resources, and support needed to be successful. • Support the delivery and administration of core People programs (onboarding/offboarding, training coordination, internal communications, and more). • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with managers and employees through regular, high-touch communication. • Develop a foundational understanding of the business model and team goals to align People support to business priorities. • Approach HR matters with a compliance-driven mindset, sound judgment, discretion, empathy, and confidentiality. • Assist with employee relations matters (e.g., documentation, intake, follow-ups), partnering with People leadership on more complex cases and investigations. • Perform HR generalist tasks to ensure data integrity across systems, reporting, and program administration in an organized fashion.
• Own key aspects of our native iOS application and contribute to our core features and architecture. • Build beautiful, polished user experiences and architect elegant, maintainable code. • Prioritize code quality and performance above all else. • Collaborate with Full Stack, Design, Product, and Data teams to engineer complete, end-to-end solutions that prioritize observability and experimentation.
• Serve as one of the Sales Directors, helping grow our overall brand advertiser sales revenue via client and agency relationships. • Manage a book of business with ambitious individual and team quarterly and annual revenue targets. • Identify new ad partners that have a brand/product that is a strong fit with our listener base, and manage the navigation to the appropriate decision maker for each partner. • Drive advertising revenue across all of The Athletic’s key platforms and surfaces. • Define strategies and guide the account management teams in replying to RFPs and client opportunities including program, content, and media plan guidance. • Share partner insights and sales lessons across the team including new ad products and opportunities our clients are looking for. • Represent The Athletic brand well.

• Design and ship high-quality experiences that drive user, product, and business impact. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, partnering with Product Managers, Engineers, Content Operations, SEO Strategists, Product Analysts, and fellow designers to lead concepts from ideation to execution. • Support and direct product strategy, ensuring we're asking the right questions and solving for the most important user needs. • Lead larger-scale strategic and vision-oriented projects across the team. • Lead and conduct design and user research as necessary. • Contribute to the Product Design team through mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and elevating our Design System. • Own and lead Product Design cultural events and rituals. • Continually identify new ways to improve both your work and the work of the discipline and team overall, including through the use of new tooling and AI. • Understand the competitive environment of design and our product. Stay on top of new technologies (like AI) and innovative user experiences, especially within sports apps, sports media, and news related products.
• Own the Data Strategy: Serve as the strategic architect for The Athletic's data future, directly partnering with executive leaders to align the data roadmap with the company's highest-priority growth objectives. • Be the Data Authority: Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Executive teams to identify data needs and deliver robust data solutions. Deliver actionable insights and metrics that inform subscription product development, strategic content decisions, and the overall growth strategy. • Build Trust in Data: Own the strategy for data governance, quality, and definition across the organization, ensuring key metrics are consistent and trusted by all teams, and acting as the final escalation point for data definition disputes. • Scale Talent and Culture: Direct and grow a diverse team of data professionals across multiple functions, acting as a dedicated mentor and champion for data literacy and a culture of continuous learning.
• Inform our product strategy by developing a deep understanding of sports media, our users, and how they engage with our product. • Communicate with and advise a variety of stakeholders in the product org. • Establish a relationship and build trust between them and our team. • Work closely with product managers to provide insights into user behavior and feature performance and help iterate on products that are loved by our users. • Build and own self-service analytics tools and dashboards and define new metrics to provide better visibility into business performance and improve forecast accuracy. • Collaborate closely with engineers to implement event tracking, experiments, and data pipelines.
