• Conduct in-store services, including event demos, trainings, and Patient Appreciation Days (PADs) at client dispensaries. • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the product line to effectively communicate its benefits to both dispensary staff and consumers. • Capture high-quality video and photo content during events to enhance social media presence and engagement. • Drive product sales during demos through direct education of budtenders and customers. • Execute visual merchandising checks in accordance with approved planograms and brand standards, ensuring consistency and quality across all partner dispensaries. • Lead budtender training sessions to increase product knowledge and administer assessments as needed. • Monitor store traffic, collect feedback, and gather market intelligence to inform marketing strategies. • Support small scale brand activations and in-store moments, executing with precision and alignment to established brand guidelines. • Complete standardized event recaps via Monday.com following every activation, including photos, notes, and key outcomes. • Ensure that marketing materials, such as point-of-sale items and collateral, are available and up to date. • Collaborate closely with the Brand Coordinator, marketing, and sales teams to ensure seamless alignment on field execution, merchandising, reporting, and promotional strategies. • Identify and recommend opportunities for local community engagement such as events, festivals, or collaborations that align with the brand’s culture and audience.
• Execute distinct go-to-market strategies for a multi-tiered portfolio with both premium and value tier brands. • Define and protect each brand’s identity within the portfolio—ensuring the premium line signals "culture and exclusivity" while the value line signals "community and accessibility". • Develop lifecycle marketing strategies that retain customers. Segment audiences to drive "drops" to premium buyers and "bundles" to value buyers. • Manage the brand presence on our owned websites and maximize visibility/ranking on third-party marketplaces (Leafly, Weedmaps, iHeartJane). • Lead retail merchandising strategy across 1st and 3rd party locations to ensure strong brand presence and an optimized physical shelf experience. • Oversee merchandising execution in Story Dispensaries ensuring company brands are the “hero” through impactful displays, product storytelling, and effective budtender education. • Develop and manage trade marketing kits and merchandising tools that drive brand visibility and win share-of-mind within partner and competitor dispensaries. • Lead strategy for brand activations, from industry trade shows to consumer-facing pop-ups and music/culture events. • Identify and negotiate strategic partnerships (collabs) and manage co-op marketing budgets to maximize reach. • Oversee the creation of high-value content that drives organic traffic and domain authority for our specific brand keywords. • Lead regional market strategy across Maryland, Arizona, and expansion markets by staying active in local dispensaries, analyzing competitor dynamics, developing challenger strategies, and creating scalable brand playbooks for future market launches. • Drive portfolio strategy across all tiers by aligning SKU decisions with Operations and Cultivation, executing differentiated launch approaches, and leading packaging and form-factor development that maximizes shelf appeal while meeting state-by-state compliance requirements. • Own market intelligence and performance analytics by leveraging cannabis data platforms to track real-time share, pricing dynamics, and competitor activity, while managing KPIs, including sales velocity and market share, and assessing how pricing shifts impact tier performance.
• Calling on cannabis wholesale customers to give successful presentations for decision making buyers that result in increased sales and exposure of the Story brand. • Work with wholesale customers to identify needs and propose solutions to increase sales of the Story brand. • Regularly visiting customer stores promoting, upselling, and collecting analytics on Story brands and competitors. • Creating and implementing efficient and stable sales plans for a territory. • Track key reporting metrics including product placements and new account creation. • Improve the marketability of products through shelf management, display position and price point management. • Perform daily sales calls. • Review of sales activities to identify performances gaps and ensure delivery of sales goals. • Collaborate closely with marketing to drive strategy and ensure compliance. • Develop new business opportunities for the company; Identify potential suppliers or customers, create proposals to pitch these relationships to upper management, and oversee negotiations. • Negotiate contracts with vendors to ensure that terms are fair for both parties. • Review sales reports on a regular basis to identify opportunities for inventory turnover or markdowns. • Review market analysis of competition and manages KPI reporting. • Utilize reporting tools to communicate progress against established sales goals. • Researches, analyzes, and forecasts current and future buying trends, markets, styles, and products, with attention to specified target market and demographics. • Develops and maintains relationships with wholesalers and suppliers. • Negotiates contracts with wholesalers and suppliers. • Assesses financial risks of purchases. • Attends trade shows, product exhibitions, and conferences to maintain current understanding of new products and trends. • Performs other related duties as assigned. • Creating an understanding and driving towards optimal and increased market share.

Role Description The Retail Buyer is responsible for procuring 3rd party products for our retail locations across Maryland. This includes building and maintaining vendor relationships, understanding product demand trends, and working closely with retail teams to ensure store-specific product needs are met for both normal and promotional sales. - Build excellent vendor relations across all three markets. - Proactively build excellent internal relations with retail inventory and store managers with an attitude of positivity and customer service. - Manage all communication between vendors and accounts payable. - Purchasing of all 3rd party goods. - Analyzing store menus to find product gaps and submit purchase orders to vendors. - Negotiate promotional support and up-front discounts. - Tracking all vendor promotional credits. - Work side by side with the retail inventory planner to ensure healthy stock levels and ordering cadence. - Monitor 3rd party inventory levels for emergency orders and health against promotional plans and sales velocity. - Establish order quantities based on company order guides. - Contribute to internal company meetings related to inventory menus and quantity/price and cost planning. - Host weekly meetings with store managers to review inventory plans, menu, and health of inventory levels as well as processes related to inventory receiving and storage. - Visit stores at least once per month to walk through inventory display and storage practices to optimize flow of inventory into the store and display of inventory on the floor. - Sends weekly recap emails to store management outlining plans between retail and procurement. - Reviews inventory for upcoming promotions or new products being added to the menu and work with retail, marketing, and supply chain teams to establish order quantities and pricing. - Evaluate pricing and menus at competing locations to make recommendations to purchasing strategy. Qualifications - Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalent required. - 3+ years of experience in cannabis retail management or procurement role. - 5+ years of supply chain experience specifically in procurement or inventory planning. - Must have detailed understanding of cannabis product brands, categories, and types. - Experience with METRC and Dutchie. - Strong Microsoft Excel skills. - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. - Ability to manage high stress situations and to be flexible and adaptable when required. - Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task. • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Regional and Retail Operations leaders and District Managers, building strong bench strength and succession plans. • Ensure consistent leadership expectations, performance management, and professional development across all retail management levels. • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement aligned with Story’s values and support VP of Retail. • Serves as the primary owner of national retail operational governance, including SOP, compliance execution standards, audit readiness, and system adoption. • Ensures operational issues are resolved through regional /district leadership rather than direct store-level intervention • Partner closely with Marketing, Merchandising, HR, Compliance, IT, Finance, and Supply Chain to ensure retail needs are supported and brand standards are upheld. • Act as a key liaison between corporate strategy and field execution, ensuring alignment, clarity, and follow-through. • Partner with retail leadership to support sales growth, labor optimization, and margin improvement initiatives. • Support budgeting, forecasting, and labor management efforts by ensuring operational alignment to financial targets. • Analyze sales data, market performance, and customer insights to inform operational improvements and strategic decisions. • Own and evolve the national retail operating model, ensuring consistent execution of standards, SOPs, and best practices across all markets. • Develop, implement, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs), internal processes, and compliance training for all retail locations. • Review daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics across all stores, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities; drive corrective action plans where performance gaps exist. • Oversee inventory, point-of-sale, and compliance systems to ensure accuracy, adoption, and audit readiness across all markets. • Develop and execute standardized audit programs to enforce compliance, operational discipline, and reporting accuracy. • Act as a liaison between corporate strategy and field execution.
• Own intercompany accounting processes, including cost sharing, management fees, intercompany debt, and interest calculations. • Manage consolidation and elimination processes across all legal entities. • Partner with Treasury to ensure alignment between accounting records and intercompany cash activity. • Manage the general ledger, including chart of accounts governance, account structure, and ongoing GL maintenance, under the direction of the Corporate Controller & VP of Accounting. • Support and co-lead the monthly close process across all entities, ensuring adherence to close timelines and accuracy of reported results. • Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and account analyses, with a focus on intercompany activity and complex accounting areas. • Prepare and review consolidated financial statements, including eliminations, supporting schedules, and supporting commentary. • Ensure completeness and accuracy of assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts. • Oversee preparation and review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations. • Maintain and enhance documentation, controls, and audit trails. • Design, document, and implement scalable accounting processes aligned with Company SOPs. • Partner with Finance, Legal, and Treasury to establish clear ownership and accountability across workflows. • Continuously evaluate and improve close efficiency, intercompany frameworks, and reporting outputs. • Serve as a key liaison for external auditors and during quarterly and annual processes. • Prepare supporting schedules, analyses, and financial commentary. • Ensure compliance with lender and shareholder reporting requirements, including the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial reporting packages, and support monitoring and adherence to debt covenant compliance through analysis and documentation. • Provide support and training to accounting peers and other team leaders. • Perform complex accounting analyses, including enhancements to consolidation and reporting frameworks. • Support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
