Role Description The Merchant Underwriter is responsible for evaluating and decisioning new merchant enrollments to mitigate financial and reputational risk. This role ensures that all enrollments adhere to established guidelines while maintaining a high level of efficiency. This role is focused on developing core risk assessment skills and contributing to the overall quality of the underwriting pipeline. Internal applicants will be given priority consideration for this role during the first week of the posting before external candidates are reviewed. Key Responsibilities - Core Underwriting & Risk Assessment - Daily Decisioning: Conduct due diligence on merchant applications, including reviewing background checks, financial statements, and business models to determine risk levels. - Guideline Adherence: Ensure all applications meet internal underwriting policies and regulatory requirements. - Escalation Management: Identify high-risk or "gray area" cases and escalate them to Senior Underwriters/Management with a clear summary and initial recommendation. - Portfolio Monitoring: Assist in the periodic review of existing accounts to ensure ongoing compliance and risk stability. - Quality & Reporting - Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed notes within the underwriting system to justify approval or declination decisions. - Data Integrity: Self-audit work for accuracy to ensure high scores during Quality Assurance (QA) reviews. - Metrics Tracking: Contribute to team goals by meeting daily production and turnaround time (SLA) targets. - Process Support & Learning - Continuous Learning: Actively participate in training sessions and job shadowing to stay current on evolving fraud trends and industry regulations. - Feedback Loop: Provide feedback to leadership regarding workflow bottlenecks or common issues encountered during the enrollment process. Qualifications - 1–2 years of experience in banking, credit analysis, or financial services. - Strong ability to analyze data, spot inconsistencies, and make logical, evidence-based decisions. - Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal teams and occasionally contacting merchants for additional info. - A "sharp eye" for identifying red flags or fraudulent documentation. - Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, managing high-volume applications while staying ahead of evolving industry trends. • Execute bi-weekly multistate payroll for 140+ employees using Rippling • Maintain employee records, including new hire setups, terminations, salary adjustments, and tax elections • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive payroll and employee information • Ensure all payroll activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations • Oversee the integration of benefits, 401(k) contributions, and other deductions within the payroll system • Generate payroll reports for the finance team and assist with year-end processing (W-2s, etc.) • Act as the primary point of contact for employee questions regarding paystubs, taxes, or timesheets • Maintain state payroll tax accounts, including filings, payments, and agency correspondence, ensuring compliance across all applicable jurisdictions • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including wages, deductions, and benefits • Support year-end payroll activities (e.g., W-2 preparation) • Review and verify timesheets; resolve discrepancies with managers as needed

• Define and execute the national sales strategy for the dental vertical • Target, prospect, and close Enterprise-level accounts • Collaborate with Product and Risk teams to refine lending criteria • Establish, monitor, and report on vertical-specific KPIs • Act as the connective tissue between high-level strategy and boots-on-the-ground execution

• Own the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of PatientFi’s risk-based pricing framework. • Develop and refine pricing tiers, APR bands, and credit limit structures that accurately reflect borrower risk profiles, maximize risk-adjusted net interest margin (NIM), and remain competitive within our market. • Leverage comprehensive unit economics models—including loss-adjusted return, net yield, and other profitability measures—at the segment, vintage, and product level. • Translate portfolio performance data into actionable pricing and credit policy changes that improve overall portfolio performance. • Serve as the primary owner of portfolio profitability reporting. • Proactively track vintage performance, delinquency trends, prepayment behavior, and net charge-off trajectories to identify pricing dislocations and risk-adjusted return opportunities. • Lead preparation of monthly and quarterly credit risk and profitability evaluations for senior leadership. • Partner closely with Data Science, Finance, Product, and Sales teams to align pricing strategy with funding costs and growth objectives. • Ensure all pricing strategies and underwriting decisions adhere to PatientFi’s internal credit policies and applicable state and federal regulations, including FCRA, ECOA/Reg B, UDAAP, and TILA/Reg Z.
